Your 1st low-wing adventure!
Hi all.
Today was the 2nd day on the field with my Greatplanes Supersportster 40 ARF.
The plane flies like a dream.
I cann't say anything more.......
Setup is:
Engine : OS 65 LA
Glowplug : OS #Α5
Servos : Futaba S3004
Tx : Futaba 7CAF
RX : Futaba R127DF
Fuel :10% nitro with 15% oil ( castor/synthetic blend )
Horns/Clevises etc etc all stock.
BTW,
i replaced the stock fuel tank ( 10oz ) with a Dubro 12oz.
Enjoy.

That looks like a nice setup. I just got a goldberg sukhoi with a saito 120 in it as my second plane about a month or two ago, and it flies great.

i got a low winger as my second IC plane some years ago, a Ripmax gambler, kind of a poor mans pattern ship, flew it around a bit decided it didn't fly much differently to my trainer, a bit sharper at the most. Never much liked the look of the low wing so i've been flying high wingers ever since. High wingers look so much better in my eyes [8D]
I do like the covering scheme on yours though Kostas1, very smart

My first low-wing adventure was also my first tail-dragger adventure, my first maiden-flight adventure, and my first kit-build adventure. My Tiger2 flew like a dream right off the board and has been going strong for the past 2 seasons.

Many people say that overpowering the models is not so good............ i have an other oppinion though!
Hehe.
Also,
i would like to have in my room a Goldberg Tiger ARF.
It seems very good!

It's kind of amazing that you are so far away, yet your field pics look like you could be right here in the San Jaoquin Valley of California, USA.
I too prescribe to the Tim Allen school of thought, in that I like more power too! Just because it is there doesn't mean one has to use it all the time. In fact I mostly cruise around at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, but it is nice to be able to cut her loose when you want to. I will be putting a .78 2-cycle engine in a .60 size plane that I think will make a good match. Plenty of extra power when I want it, but not too over the top. We'll find out soon enough.[X(]

My first low wing adventure was also with a super sportster. I had some one take it up. It flew awsome until the 3rd flight. I was making a practice approach and then the engine died right at the end of the field. It went in pretty hard since it was hard to see once it got close to the grass. Any way the body cracked in half. It was to easy fix but now im too lazy to put back in the control rods.

That's one nice field you got there. I wish mine was more like that. I actually just crashed my first low winger today. I was doing a nice low approach and a bush jumped up and grabbed my wing throwing the plane into the bush, luckily nothing got broken except a piece of the wing. No real major damage just some broken ribs and leading edge- easy repair hard part is getting the covering for the wing. Number one rule never ever say one more takeoff and landing

Nice plane and nice field Kostas. Grump is right, if someone showed me the photo, I'd say it was Southern California. Your clubhouse could use some paint though (I'm not volunteering).

My first low wing was also my first tail dragger and my second plane...a Sterling models Spitfire. Everyone said I would crash on takeoff, except my son who said, "You can do it Dad, I know you can"! I took off a bit pre maturely and she started to bobble. I put in some down elevator to get the nose down, added power, leveled out, then ascended into the Wild Blue. I flew the heck out of her then landed and only bounced once. I refueled her, took off and I have been flying Warbirds ever since. I lost the Spitfire one day when I was in a verticle dive and pulled out too late. I had many flights on her, so I couldn't complain. Besides, it wasn't the Spit's fault, it was mine. I don't recommend verticle dives near tera firma, as they can be costly, Good luck in your modeling endeavours.

Does a high wing trainer flown inverted count? Sorry, but right now it's our only R/C model (Sig LT-40) which has been built. And we *do* fly it inverted!
Others waiting for resources (additional radios, engines, etc.) include a Sig Somethin' Extra, a Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 40 ARF, a Sig 1/6 scale Cub kit as well as a Goldberg Golden Anniversary Cub kit (a gift).

Pipe Major, I think you are going to have big fun with the SSE when you get er done. I've never flown one but they sure look like a very aerobatic, point & shoot type of plane & I know they are a lot of fun to fly in my Sim. The roll rate is just blindingly fast!!
My first low-wing was a WM Cap 232 (Castrol Aviator) It went well, I maidened it myself, Had a great 1st flight & proceeded to get around 10 fantastic flights out of it before loosing the elevator halves due to poor assembly on my part.[:@] So I replaced it with a WM Ultimate 40 which is still alive today.[

Drum roll please
Hobbico Brightstar- Great flyer but after my trainer it is an adrenalin rush. Much faster and quicker on the controls. Loses altitude very fast if you are not careful.

Good luck with your super sportster, my uncle has one and loves the heck out of it!!!!! great airplane!
Ha, I had the same philosophy with my Avistar 40. I bought a Super Tigre G51 because I figured I could use it in other airplanes. Let me tell you, it HAD vertical performance like you can't believe! unfortunately one day (yesterday) after a full throttle takeoff the throttle linkage broke, and ultimately carried the airplane up till it was a dot in the sky. after about 6 minutes of flight time, i was in a left hand turn, and for some reason, it wouldn't come back to the right. i gave it right rudder, and it was apparantly too much, because It did a vicious snap back to level, and proceded to scream toward the ground(well, all but the left half of the wing, which decided to float off in the other direction!!!!) It went full throttle from 500 feet straight toward good ole mother earth, until she splatted into the dry lake bed that our flying field is based on. When I went out to examine the wreckage, the motor was buried in the soft dirt up to the end of the muffler. The leading edge of the only recovered wing, was pushed all the way back into the trailing edge, with the wing ribs sticking out through the monokote. The fuse was a total writeoff, except the horizontal stab, which oddly still looks new. The receiver, battery, and servos all got sent into the fire wall, except for the wing servo, which was sitting 15 feet away. But luckily the motor is still good! a testament to these little model airplane motors durability!!!!! I had had the plane for about a month, after graduating from my first airplane, my dad's falcon 56 MKII. i went to the hobby shop and bought a mustang pts about 6 hours after that fiasco. i couldn't help it, my uncle is going flying in a few days!!!

I sold it appr.5 months before to fund other projects.
