Best part is easy....building a plane. Worst part is looking at the remains and saying I will fix it - but never do

Best part for me has always been stick building. 2nd best us covering. Worst part is showing up with a brand new model and finding someone at the field with another brand new one of the same thing. After that is the other guy having a fine maiden and me crashing.

I would have to say the best part besides the neat planes is the people I have met in this hobby. Some of the best aroung. The worst I would have to say is also some of the people. Some of them can be real buttheads. More of them are great so it way outnumbers the bad!

What would you guys rather do....clean up the 'goo' after a day of flying, or have nothing LEFT TO CLEAN after a day of flying. I'm happy when I get to clean up one of my birds - that must mean it is still in one piece![sm=surprised.gif]

The best part for me is having other people at the field providing positive feedback and encouragement, and helping the beginner learn to safely fly their new treasure. It seems I spend more time working on OPP (Other Peoples Planes) than I do my own!

The worst part trying to organize this happy-go-lucky bunch of people to keep our field open (fund raising for field rent, maintenance, and equipment). We got very lucky this year and opened a new flying field that's only 5 miles from our local major urban center, and is big enough to fly everything but the really big giants. Trying to keep it will be a real chore.

The best part of this hobby for me is that my two sons and I have enjoyed it for over 14 years together and it has inspired my sons to take to the Wild Blue themselves. My oldest son went on to obtain his private pilot's license, a degree in Aerospace Engineering, and now flies F-16's for the USAF! My youngest son is now working on his Pilot's License and also plans to obtain a college degree and persue a career in the USAF! We love to go to the field and fly our models when we are all together. What more could a man ask for? They have good moral values and are helpful and caring people. All of us have taught others to fly R/C models and never asked for anything but friendship in return. What I like least about this hobby is when people think their time and effort demands a menetary price for their help to instruct. I would be close to being a millionaire if I charged someone every time I helped them or taught them to fly. I understand charging a fee to build a plane for someone. However, to me this hobby is an inspiration tool, not a get rich quick scheme. Good luck to all of you in your future endeavours.

I think the best part is the camaradarie of good friends & flying. The worst part is no doubt crashing a good airplane!![:@] It's all part of the deal though so we learn how to handle it.

Best part is designing/building/modifing an airplane. Worst part is when you're 95% complete and start seeing the end, but then I start looking for the next project [sm=biggrin.gif].

Best part is a not to hot calm sunny day and a couple other buddies to chat with between taking turns flying. The worst part is finally having to say it's winter and putting the birds in their nests for the duration. But this is also a best time because I can create new birds for the spring. I love to build kits, no ARF's. They all look the same and I am a scale builder and love to make a plane look like the real thing. I am also a pilot, so I have a replica of my Cherokee PA28-140. Have to admit though, shes a hanger QUEEN!!![sm=cool.gif]

Your attention span is longer than mine. I get about 75% done and start another one. I usually have 4 or 5 going at a time.

So are the times, but I've just started scratch building my own designs with Solidworks and it provides another realm for me to explore. Now I have another "favorite" part of the hobby, design.

I also agree that friendships are the biggest part of the hobby, there is one guy who will come to the field and talk, fly, talk, fly, talk, talk, talk, and talk. He's probably my favourite guy at the field and have tought lots in and out of the hobby.

My normal flying routine (and pretty much the same for all the club members) setup and fly then sit and chat for about 45 minutes, fly again, chat another 45 minutes, rinse and repeat until time to pack it in.
