Minor inflight today
Whoops! This was actually funny although it took forever to find the wheel again! Landed just fine, a little aileron and it slowed enough to dig only a little and spin around without any wingtip action.

RE: Minor inflight today
LOL,
I am laughing only because something very similar happened to me not long ago.
On takoff at about 5 feet off the ground my nose gear fell off. Not just the wheel, the entire gear wire and all.
Luckily my instructor was at the field and generously offered to land it for me. Got it back down safely, fixed the gear and flew several more flights that same day.
Glad you recovered without any damage.

Yes, the background IS beautiful! This is just a small local field that we use in the summer to fly from. In the winter it is a snow dump used by the city. Yesterday was the first day in a week that it has stopped raining enough to fly...I was going crazy!

About a year ago the right wheel on the main gear of my spa3d fell off.I managed to land it though (due to being a spad it was rather easy.) we found the wheel nut and bolt.

Muzzle, it actually has 8 rubber bands on it...the pic does look like only 4 though[&:]
Beach, it's an XE-2 or Extra Easy 2 from Hangar 9. It has been replaced by the Alpha series of trainers. It's a great plane, good trainer, easy to see, and loops, rolls, flies inverted great!
