Search out an R/C club or hobby shop that is near you, there are a few clubs listed for P.R. and one hobby shop listed in Rio Piedras Heights. Go to a club and check it out, you can find out what frequencies that are being used and if there are any that you should avoid plus you can get help in learning to fly. By the way your post should be moved to R/C aircraft.

Consider your thread moved.

I don't know what is available in your area but here is a list of good planes available in the continental US
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4537845/tm.htm

Pretty sure you can get most of these shipped to you if not locally available.
Here is a list of clubs in Puerto Rico
http://www.modelaircraft.org/ClubZip...r.aspx?s=PR&c=
You should contact one and get with an instructor there. They can provide much needed advice and save you a lot of time and money.

Welcome to RC flying and RCU.

Welcome to the obsession. Remember, its only cheap if you keep it in the air and can land it safely. Otherwise it gets expensive or frustrating or both.

Find a local club, or at least someone with experience, to help you get in the air. Your local hobby shop is a good place to start looking. It might seem like a lot of trouble at first, but its well worth it.

As for trainer aircraft, there's a sticky at the top of the forum. Everybody has their own favorite, but most of the trainers out there are pretty evenly matched, and all provide a good platform to learn on. Get something that works with your instructors equipment. Our club VP has the Tower Trainer with an OS 46 AX, and he loves it. My personal favorite trainer is the Hanger 9 Alpha Trainer (get the ARF version) and put a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 on the front with an APC 11x5 prop.

Good Luck!

Brad

I second the Alpha 60. After charging the batteries for 24 hours, you have the plane ready to go in an hour or so.

I bought mine from a local hobby store, but you can get it here:

The World Model has a great trainer in the Shy Raider Mark1 for $70 and they have great customer service. It is the plane I'm going to be flying. I found a problem with one of the wings after I had epoxied it together. I called I told them what the problem was they just said brake the wings in half and send them back to them and they will send a new set of wings out. You can see the plane in the thread "Bev and Joel".

Good luck and Happy flying[sm=49_49.gif]
