Anyone know the new discount code for RCU members at Tower Hobbies the 011JF expired on 9/01/06.

The first I ever heard of a "RCU Member" code was last week when someone mentioned it in a post.

if you join the tower club not only do you get the mailings for discounts they send out coupons all the time . I have never seen a RCU discount code .

I remember posting the RCU code in threads in a couple forums. It was $25 off $150. Hope they do another soon. Not sure how I got on their mailing list for it.

Does anyone have a 20 off of 50 from Tower. I had one and it expired. I call them and they would not do anything. Seems to me that they could if they wanted to. I haven't ordered anything from them in a year so you would think they would try to do something. Customers mean nothing now days.

Discounts are a reward for ordering also, not just a bribe to get you to order. What they "do" for you is offer good service at reasonable prices but NOT with a reward yet. Not earned yet. I get Tower Talk and Emails from them constantly with discounts but I earned them by making purchases.

I just can't get a break I have to be very carefull of what I spend because of my wife's illness and medical expenses. Little does tower know I can wait them out

I can order pretty much anything I need from my LHS and he will sell it to me at whatever the cost would be at Tower.. including the discount, and no shipping charges. So, I've not ordered from Tower in quite some time. That does not mean I won't, but for now, I am pretty happy with my LHS.

Our lhs will not match prices. To small of a shop I guess.

Our LHS is rather small too, but he seems to get a lot of business from us local guys. He usually places a large enough order to get what he needs by Wednesday afternoon each week. That's how I ordered the Protege and he got it for me when promissed.

We are lucky to have Dave at our LHS. He is a good guy, AND flys RC, so he knows the hobby.

My LHS is also competative with Tower prices but when you are saving on shipping you are paying taxes and gas money so it is a wash.
I spend alot at my LHS but sometimes they don't have what I need but they can order it, well so can I and I don't have to drive the 50 miles to my LHS to get it.
I buy from Tower quite regularly and I get discounts from time to time.

Ken's deal is better but I don't know the expiration date if any.

You had a discount code but did not use it before the expiration date, and somehow you can twist that into "Customers mean nothing now days" ??????

Well I tell you what. When you have a wife that is dieing from cancer and you don't have time to check your email or go play because your to busy taking care of your wife and your 7 year little girl and trying to hold a full time job, maybe then you'll get it!!![>:]

Oh and by the way tower did not have an experation date on the offer, so how was I to know??? I too don't normally respond to comments like yours but I couldn't resist.

I regret that you are facing such difficult times.
For what it is worth I pretty much do get it though.
Hopefully you are up to the challenges that lie ahead.
If you do not have the resources to play with model planes for the next few years, just mothball them until your circumstances change. You won't regret putting the airplanes aside for a while so you can take care of your family. Ten or even twenty years from now you may remember holding your wife's hand, or something funny your daughter does today, but you won't remember greasing in a perfect landing, the $20 off coupon from Tower, or our unfortunate exchange about it.

i personally am a sucker for the ez pay AND the special discount codes.......they market it pretty well to the point of making you almost feel dumb for not taking advantage of a good deal/value. i like the free shipping over 150 too.

i think tower caught on to us because i tried using these codes and theres a prompt that knows exactly what discount codes they sent you and if you are "eligible" to use it. go figure. it will tell you this code was not meant for you. i refuse to buy from tower until they give me the discount i want. why should the new customer be able to use the codes when i already purchased thousands of dollars of stuff from them and cant give ME the measly 20 bucks off? fair is fair i dont care about their marketing strategies.

but before anybody chimes in YES i do purchase from them all the time but RARELY get the discount codes- or at least lately. is it me or have the discounts been slowed??

ya they should look after the people that DO buy alot of stuff from them i do. when i started buying from them i got a good amount off but now i dont get any emails from them and without a discount i can buy stuff at my LHS for the same $$ or just alittle more
