engine mounting dilemna Sig Senior

Default engine mounting dilemna Sig Senior

I just finished the repairs on a sig senior ARF that my buddy gave me, I am installing an OS .46 fx that was included with the plane but not mounted. I was told that the engine was mounted in this plane and the mounts were attached to the engine, after installing the mount to the bulkhead i noticed the engine is pointing downward slightly from the centerline of the plane. Is this normal of the Sig Senior or do I have to make some kind of shim and get the engine sitting square to the centerline of the plane.

It is normal to have a little bit of down thrust built into a plane. Especially a plane like the Senior. You don't need to worry about it.

This plane was given to me as a full package including a Futaba skysport radio, I used it
to practice installing servos and centering trims before I set up my nexstar. now that it is almost complete I am thinking about taking the nexstar back and using this as my trainer

A friend at the club i just joined let me do a few rectangular patterns with his senior this past sunday, I am now hooked and can't wait to get up in the air with my senior, Even though I was on the buddy box and will be for a while, I haven't had this much fun with R/C in a great many years, 1/8 buggy racing was too competitive and I spent more time frustrated than enjoying myself, Isn't this a hobby?

You will love your Senior,
My mount sits the same way and I still had to add down elevator to keep it from climbing too much.
Once trimed the Kadet Senior is a great flyer and very forgiving on new pilots.

Seniors are like a man's best friend. When you just want to spend some quality time at the field by yourself with a friend. The senior is the friend/ plane to take. It is such a beautiful flying plane you can take your fingers off the sticks and just relax. They almost land themselves if you can get them to come down. Have a great time with your new friend. I built mine from a kit and made it a tail-dragger and made other changes too. It flys like a feather.

I just finished the fuselage repairs and covering, the engine and radio is fully installed, fired up on the electric starter in a second. OS.46 fx. now I have to focus on the wing.
A friend who has building and flying over 20 years showed me how to repair the wing.
just wondering how this plane will fly without the engine cowl on it. it was destroyed in the crash and I don't want to order a new one until am sure the plane flys right. after I get my training in get comfortable with it I will be converting to a tail dragger. and putting the better controller in it.

I took the Nexstar And the GMS .47 back to the hobby shop. I kept the 6EXAS and bought a tower .40 ARF trainer as a backup plane. price was excellent.

Should be in the air within 2 weeks (the senior that is) "I CAN'T WAIT"

I was also given a damaged great planes .40 piper cub, wing covering was torn but wing is
still fine, fusealge damage is minor, someone pulled all the covering off . I don't have engine, servos/reciever yet but I will be using the 6EXAS as the transmitter as it has 6 model memory. this will be my winter project hopefully I will have enough experience to fly the cub next year. I love the look of a cub

OK time to get some opinions, do I do a traditional cub yellow covering, or do I make it my own, I have had a flourescent orange nd daytona blue paint scheme on my race cars
and I thought it would be cool to cover the cub in this scheme.

I'm building a GP 60 size Cub now and when I'm done, I will cover it with white Solartex and then I'm going to paint mine Blue and White with Red pin-stripping. Everyone seems to have a yellow one or an olive drab military scheme. BORING!

The Senior Kadet will fly just fine w/o the cowl, even with a .46. Make sure to use a low pitch prop, in the 4-5 range if using a smaller engine. I used a 12-5 when mine had a .46, and now with a .61, I use a 13-5. My 8 year old son is just about ready to Solo on the Kadet. It can fly as slow as 10mph with a little bit of headwind. The Kadet is the best trainer I have ever flown. Besides training my son, I will let anyone fly it a couple of mistakes high. No buddy box needed! I think you will enjoy this plane for a long time.
