I did my second maiden, not including electrics.
I have now successfully maidened 2 glow planes. The first was an ultra-stick and this one is a SIG Mayhem.
Man, there are few feelings which rival this one. I did it all myself and it flies better than anything I have flown, (smaller than 50cc, that is). It does everything my stick could do, only it does it slower and with much more power and emphasis.
The Mayhem got 2 flights and dozens of landings. This thing is just plain FUN to fly. It's the standard ARF with a Saito 1.25 engine and it's got unlimited vertical even at break-in settings. The best part is, it can land slower than a foamie and it's stall speed seems to be about 2 MPH...BACKWARD. It will hover at about 1/2 throttle and pull straight out without hesitation. I can't wait to lean it out a bit.
Silly grin...seems......indelible.....can't......remove. ...from face. (Sorry for the Shattner impression).

More flying the Mayhem today....It's under-propped and still overpowered. I...LIKE OVERPOWERED!
This thing flies better than my stick, (RIP), and that is the best engine EVER, (Saito 1.25), it starts with a half-flip backward. Another tank or 2 and I will lean it out and throw a 16 X 4 prop on it.
Now I will be further compelled to overpower all of my planes. AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME MwAhHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

The funny thing is, my first GAS plane is underpowered (50cc DA in a 22 pound plane). Now I may be forced to buy a lighter airframe for the 50. It's just more fun to fly lighter planes....period. Although, the heavy plane has helped me learn to fly to the runway....Mmm.
Ah well.....MORE POWER!

OK guys I need a bit of help. Nothing major.
I have a few issues I am working out:
First, I need full right rudder to keep a stable hover, so I added 2 washers and gave it about 2 1/2 deg. RT. (I wonder if this is too much).
I have blown two hinges on the rudder, I replaced the first with nylon and it blew today. I am going to need to re-hinge the entire rudder with Robart or pinned hinges next week. (I intend to fly it with one blown hinge and reduce my rudder throw....and keep from hovering etc).
Third, I forgot to attach tubing to the CC vent and now I have a very slick plane. fixed that
Fourth, I only used locktite on one side of the muffler, the other came loose....fixed that.
Now finally I can say without a doubt that um....POWER GOOD......ME LIKE!!
UNfrigginLIMITED vertical from a 4 foot takeoff....and I still haven't leaned it out yet...on the low-end.
9 flights and counting....I LOVE this plane...
