What are the good and the bad qualities of the Hanger 9 Texan? For those who have the plane what size engine did you mount in it?
Thanks for the help.

I haven't flown mine yet but the quality seems good.
I replaced the 5/32" main gear wires with 3/16" Robarts.
I have an Enya 90 4 stroke in mine.
A friend at my club has a Saito 100 in his. He flew his maiden on his last week and it is a wonderful flying airplane. The tail has a tendency to bounce alot on a grass runway but aside from that it really didn't show any bad tendency.
PS: I have heard that the Tower 75 2 stroke is a good engine for this airplane as well.
I should mention I did lay in some fiberglass inside the firewall and forward 2 inches or so of the fuselage (I have heard the firewall mounting can be a bit weak and that Enya is a heavy engine)

Beware: It is a Texan and exhibits the qualities of a full scale one. Short coupled, so ground handling can be difficult. Don't try to float the landing or it will tip stall as most warbirds will. I have flown a friends with a 100 Saito in it. Flies good but can be a handful if you are inexperienced flyer.

I have a Saito 82 in mine along with spring air retracts. The 82 is plenty of power and it is probably the easiest tail dragger to get off the ground that I've flown. It will float on landing and really bounce if you try to drop the tail too soon. Land it on the wheels [don't try to three point it] and let the tail drop on it's own. If you use the stock tank and fill it full you could probably fly for over 20 minutes. Great flying plane and the colors look super in the air.
