How would a O.S. .46 LA do driving a Goldberg Eagle 2 trainer, good/bad? Anything better in about the same price range?

How about a prop, would a Master Airscrew 11x6 nylon work ok?

That engine will work just fine in the Eagle II. For a prop, an 11 X 5 will be a good match.

Yes, it will work fine, but if you can swing just a few bucks more, a TT 46 Pro or an Evolution 46 are engines that you can use on many more planes in the future.

As Minn said, that engine will work fine. But if you can afford the extra bucks go for the engines Minn said or for an OS 46 FX. There is one reason why I prefer to see beginner's stay away from the LA motors. The LA's have an airbleed adjustment for the low speed adjustment, and this kind of adjustment can be very very difficult to get set right. This can be very frustrating for even experienced pilots, and for a beginner it's enough to drive them away from the hobby!!! Seriously though, they are hard to get the low end correct and I feel new pilots have enough frustrations just learning to fly without having to mess with a finicky engine too boot.

Thanks for the quick responses fellas. I'm locked on the TT .46 Pro now, reviews look really good and Tower has it for $87.99. Not bad. Will go with a 11x5 prop, but is there a particular brand that works best with this engine/plane combination?

The Evolution trainer power system is a good one. I've maidened three or four of the PTS planes and one Alpha. Engines started right up and ran great. I am a fan of the TT46 PRO and I think is the best engine in it's price range. You would not be disappointed with either one. LA's work ok if you already had one but if your going to buy one there are better engines to be bought for about the same money. Please check for my PM to you.

I have an OS 40 LA on my Eagle 2. It provides plenty of power and balances perfectly without extra nose or tail weight. I think you would need tail weight with the TT Pro 46 or similar. No big deal really.

I use a O.S.40ts on my 16 year old Goldberg Eagle with a 11x6 nylon Prop. I only have a little Nose weight and she flys like a dream, I personally don't want anything more powerful than what I have. I have a wooden Master Airscrew 11x6 Prop that I put on the plane when I'm flying at a demonstration or show.
