"Gee Gaws", bells & whistles - granted they're not really needed. I still try to have my planes mechanically adjusted so I don't need the computer end-points. BUT I'm sure glad someone invented digital trims and end-point adjustments. Best thing since bottled beer. Buy a radio that has them and you will not regret it. I have a 6DA and every time I go back to it from my 9C I can't believe how crude it is. Sliders and pots for trims, mixing and throws - how Neanderthal!

The 7C is hard to ignore for the price. I think I paid the same for a 4 channel Futaba with three servos around 1980.

Why would anyone need more than 6 channels on an airplane?
throttle, ailerons, elevator, rudder, landing gear, flaps... and then what? smoke? night lights? twin engine seperate throttle control?
Well my "third" plane (Funtana 90S) has

Aileron - Right Aileron Servo
Aux1 - Left Aileron Servo
Rudder - Rudder Servo
Throttle - Throttle Servo
Elevator - Right Elevator Servo
Aux2 - Left Elevator Servo

And fortunately this plane does not have flaps (although with the above arrangement it doesn't need them).

I don't consider the above "unusual". You can build the plane with seperate servo reversers/mixers.
When I tried this though I found that I got much better results letting the radio do the job instead and it was cheaper too.

In addition this added the ability to get flaperons and also roll elevator controls (a real blast to play around with).

I haven't even thought about putting smoke, lites, etc.

When I upgrade to the Funtana 100X I'll use the same setup as well.

Yeah the computer controlled end point, and mixing are a must IMHO, well justifying the cost of a good radio if you anticipate having more than one plane at ANY point in time.

"Ditto" on the Digital trims and end point adj.
At least get the Digital trims,if nothing else on the Tx.
