I'm building my first nitro plane and i don't know witch radio to get. i am building a .46 trainer but I'm going to buy a 6 channel radio so when i do upgrade to a bigger better plane i don't have to go out and buy a whole new radio. that way all i have to buy is a new receiver and servos. I have picked out to radio's but i don't know witch one to get and there both pretty much the same price so i just want to know witch one is better so i don't end up screwing up by buying the lower quality one.

I believe it depends on what your intentions are. For normal flying and a few mild aerobatics, the LA is probably fine. For Extreme Performances and Adventures, I'd go with the AX. Good Luck.

Find out which radio is more widely used at your field so others will be able to help you faster with your setups, I would bet it is Futaba too...the la should be fine for your trainer, you'll only be at half throttle most of the time anyway, no need for more power to do that...Rog

Dryice,
Regarding the motor, I recommend the LA for your trainer. The AX makes more power, but it burns more fuel (glow fuel is getting expensive), weighs more and has bearings that you must keep from rusting. The LA should be plenty of power for training and is cheaper to replace if you whack it. Hope that helps.

well im going with the futaba radio because i live in the middle of nowhere and there isnt even a hobby store in my province (im in canada) and there are 2 people in this town besides me that fly nitro planes and one of them i dont know but the other im good friends with so hes going to teach me how to fly nitro planes (he has 32 planes 7 heli's and 5 trucks witch are all nitro or gas) and i found out that most of his radio's are futaba so it would be common sence to go with that. and for the record im on a budget because im only 14 and i already own a t-maxx (some modds done to it) a electric plane and a electric heli and the t-maxx needs some new parts and i also a another 3 hobbies that starve me for cash aquarium's , reptile's and extreme moutian biking

My favorite radios are Futaba and Hitec. The Hitec radios are a lot of bang for the buck, and the accessories are cheaper than Futaba, too. Great value. Your thinking is right, get something with enough channels and features so you don't need to upgrade any time soon.
As for engines, get the AX. It's a better, more powerful engine than the LA, and will last through your next few sport-type planes.
