Default Help with what JR servos to use in NexStar

Anyone have any suggestions on what JR servos you would put in a Hobbico NexStar? I'm putting one together new and have a JR receiver and batt but need servo's are the 821's good enough? Any concerns for rudder / nose wheel .vs. ailerons? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Darin

Darin, Welcome to RCU. I use JR537 servos in most of my aircraft , and in the last 6 years i have never had a problem, and i fly all year round. They are ball raced servos with all the power you will ever need. Enjoy your flying

Just FYI,

You can use ANY servos you want with any rx you want. Just make sure they line-up correctly. Ken will be along soon with a very descriptive graphic which alliterates this very well. (Don't let me down, Ken).

For a trainer, use the most basic standard servo you can get. Don't pay much more than $15 each for them...and you can get servos that will work for less than $10.

Enjoy!!

Ken: Thank you for that diagram. It's the first time I've seen it and I did not know the difference between vendors and what wire did what.

Thank You, Printed it and put it in my "tips" manual.

Thanks all for your help I really appreciate it. I will get the JR537's as they have them in stock @ my local hobbie store and are resonably priced. I had a couple of other questions concerning this model, sorry as I'm trying to learn, I'll be flying mostly @ appx 7500 ft "flagstaff" I've been told to use 20% fuel and advised to cut in the flaps so I would end up with 3 servos in the wings. Any input on this? I fly electrics up there and the landing speeds are about twice what I get when flying in the Phoenix area. Thanks again for any input.

There is a senior flier at my field that has done this exact mod and he likes it a lot. Tied the 2 aileron torque rods together and connected to center servo. Then used wing mounted servos for the ailerons.

I've been experimenting with a NextStar using full span flapperons with very good success. One thing I've noticed is dropping the ailerons about 1/8" or so makes a big difference in the way the plane flies - and it even seems to have better stall characteristics. You may want to think about trying that before you cut into the ailerons to make seperate flaps. At 7500 ft. you'll need a fair amount of aileron throw on the plane. Dropping the ailerons a bit still leaves them intact so you'll have the maximum amount of power from them. Even better if you have a radio that can operate flapperons - you (or your instructor) can find the setting that best works for your conditions.

Thanks, I will look into droping the ailerons a bit. I appreciate all the input.
