is it possible to turn my airtronics buddy box into a radio by adding an antenna, batery, and a crystal.

No, you can't convert your buddy box into a "working" radio. The buddy box lacks the transmitter portion of the radio.

Most likely your radio is missing all of the RF circuitry it would require to transmit. Cost would be prohibitive and in the U.S. such a mod would have to be done by a licensed shop which would run the cost up even higher.

wait wait wait...

theres a difference between a buddy box and Transmitter? i thought you could just connect two Transmitters and use one to lock out the other...

but as the others said it would be unlikely, just get a used transmitter off fleabay
