Default Another LT40 Ready

I just wanted to show everyone the new LT40 I just finished for my 7 year old son. We used a new Saito .56 with a 12x6 apc to power it. It has a Hitec Laser 4 transmitter and rec with 6 Futaba 3003 standard servos. There is a servo for each aileron hooked up on a Y and a servo for the tailwheel on a reversing Y. The battery is below the fuel tank against the firwall and it is balanced at 4 3/8. So a little lead will be needed up front.
A little info from the covering scheme. We went to D.C. to the new Air and Space Museum at Dulles Airport. The plane Christian liked was one of Al Williams' Gulfhawlks. I knew that orange would be great on a trainer so we used Orange Ultra Cote with blue Ultra Cote trim tape. We also used white Monocote for the rest of the trim.
The engine has been broken in, the control throws set,the buddy box set up, and need to finish balancing. Maybe this Sunday we can put the maiden on it.

Nice plane. 7 is young, should be interesting. Good luck.

Nice finish job. My son's LT 40 has an LA46 on it, more than sufficient power. I feel the plane needs more weight all over. It will fly at 1/4 power all day. The first few times you take it out, you want calm air, and a nice long run to the runway on the way in. Ours takes forever to bleed off speed and altitude. The nice thing, it flies very well slowly, and is large enough to see easily. Once you get the feel for its glideslope, you will run tanks of fuel through it shooting touch and goes. Good luck with his training, attention spans can be fairly short at a young age, be prepared for a lot of breaks.

Very nice job! YOu and your son should be proud.

BUT, I hope you use more rubber bands to tie that wing down than shows in the first picture. At least 4 per side with 3 more crossing from right
to left and 3 more left to right. Don't want the wing to come off that beautiful plane.

That looks great, with this scheme it should be really easy to see in the air. The white ARF is very difficult to see on overcast days.
I have a LT40 with .52 fourstroke and 12X6 prop, this is a perfect combination.
Enough power to have fun and you fly 30minutes+ on one fuel tank...

Eventhough I have more sporty planes, I often take my LT40 with me just to wring it out or hook someone up on the buddybox, this is a very versatile plane and the one that has most hours on the meter in my fleet.l

Good luck!

Thanks. I had just enough rubber bands on it to hold the wing on for pictures. I haven't had a trainer flying for a couple of years now and missed it. Its nice to have one set just to let someone take a turn on the buddy box. I let a lot of people fly my old Balsa USA Stick 40 and it was fun. I am going to take it slow with my son at let him train when he is interested. One of the fields we fly at added an RC truck track for the windy day weekends. He is really interesed it that. I hate to put that much money in an RC truck or buggy. We will see what happens.

Pm me when you figure out the truck / buggy thing, I have the same problem.

Test - 30 min on that? What 52 do you have? I have a magnum 52 on my old Alpha, I don't get that much run time, although it does seem like I fly a lot longer before I bring it in. Seems like in 30 min, my fingers would get numb on the sticks...
