I agree as well. It's a trainer. Not a scale Corsair or a Cessna 410C that can't be replaced. Pour some lighter fluid on it and give it a proper cremation ceremony. Tower has 40 size trainers for next to nothing. You'll spend more in balsa, glue, hinges and covering to fix that stab and firewall. Just junk it. The rest of the glue joints are probably rotten anyway.

Trainers are expendable. Think of them the same way a pylon guy or a combat guy thinks of his planes. Expendable. Some last longer than others. Go buy a NIB ARF and slap it together over the long weekend coming up. You'll be flying Friday or Saturday if you get after it and don't goof around. When you crash it--go get another one right away and do it again. Repeat if necessary. [sm=lol.gif]

It all depends on whether you like to build and repair. If you haven't trashed that baby yet, don't. Toss it in the attic for spare parts...and as to whether something can be rebuilt, check these shots out...before (at the lake) and after (good as new).......
Of course, Joel IS a Master Builder ...both full size and RC planes.... run a trainer through a chiipper/shredder and pour it into a hefty garbage bag. Give it to Joel and you'll have the plane back good as new tomorrow,...well,...the day after tomorrow.

Don't know how far down in Miami you are located, but if you get the opportunity to come out to Markham Park in Sunrise (FT Laud) there are a number of pilots who are also excellent builders. They can give you great tips on building, repairs and recovering. Plus it's a great field. So far, they've taught me...keep every single nut, bolt, washer, etc. Either you'll need it or someone else will. ...you know, "pay it forward"

Thanks... I've been meaning to get up there to Markham its just a hike for me... I know several ppl that fly there. Was just talking to a guy that works with me and he flies there every weekend. I really do need to make the trip one of these weekends... Plus I want to go see (i forget his name now) the guy from Warricks, I've seen his turbine jet at the store... Wanna see it fly...

Look forward to seeing you there! The weekends get a little packed, but always a good group. Or you could wait for a beautiful, calm, clear weekday, and suddenly develop the flu... Plus we've got some top class pilots ...yes even heli guys...Elvis flies at our field...he's amazing.

Do you mean the red "Snoopy" jet? That one belongs to Terry. If so, I think he's still installing the electronics. But yes, the jets fly on the weekends, plus generally on Wednesday and Friday afternoons,...weather permitting. So far I've gotten to fly an F-16 a couple of times (no take offs or landings) VERY EXCITING!!! Also a lot of large scale or big birds there too.

The best thing about fixing a plane that's not worth fixing is the "SKILLS" learned in the process. Sure, you'll make some mistakes but better on an old "beater" than on your pride and joy. Even if it never flies, work on it when you have some free time and some scrap wood.

Hi, guys.
I was browsing some old threads and came upon this one on the N40TT. All I can say is that I got 105 flights on mine as a learner to R/C and it was one tough little guy! I instinctively shot some CA around the motor mount area from the git-go and it survived all those flights. On the 106th flight I happened upon a tall tree that seemed to object to being rammed by this "gnat" and I figured after all those flights it owed me nothing. It taught me how to fly and I appreciated that.
The wing remarkebly survived all mishaps and the worst damage ever experienced was holes punched through the covering. I found that Lepages House Hold Glue 4 fixed the covering without melting it and shrank tight and clear as it dried. Clear packing tape that someone mentioned, works well for any skin damage I found.
Well, off to the field! I am trying to get my 1/3 scale Sig Spacewalker dialed in for it's first flight. It is powered by a ST4500 on gas with Prospark bolt on. Runs super on the ground thanks to Duarte Gabral.

Nah, Im a penny pincher and dont mind getting my hands dirty. (Used to love building modles, now donthave the room or time otherwise Id already be building a biplane!!)
