Just wondering.... Ive been to the local hobby shop... (even though I don't like the local shop, I prefer the one a little further away because it's a mom n pop deal... but thats not what I'm posting about.) And checked out the publications available for the R/C plane hobby. The ones Ive seen there, and at Books A Million, all seem to be hyper crowded with Electrics information... Which Magazines, if any, do you guys read? And are there available magazines which focus more on the glow fuel planes?[sm=49_49.gif]

I get Model Airplane News, it is a good magazine with lots of info. Unfortunatly they have been concentrating too much of the mag towards electrics and elect. conversions. They need to realize that you have new people getting into this hobby, and cover the basics a little more, from time to time. I feel they should keep most of the electrics in there other mag. Backyard Flier.
This is only my oppion.

Flying Models is the best for coverage of all phases of model aviation. And of course, if you join the AMA, you get Model Aviation, which is wonderful or lousy depending on who you talk with about which issue.

R.C. Report. Even though it is beginning to cater more and more to the ARF crowd, and there is usually something about electrics toward the back of the magazine. Obviously Gordon has to take the magazine where the bulk of the subscribers are (or want to be). There is an English magazine (kind of pricey though) and I can't remember the name, even though I have a few copies. They are kind of off the wall though. I too, am tired of all the magazines beginning to look like a Hangar 9 or a Hobby Lobby catalog. I guess we had best get used to it.

I subscribe to RC Report and the AMA mag, of course.
RC Report doesn't seem to be just a sales pitch like many of the mags seem to be when they do reviews.
And RCUnivers reviews appear to be pretty honest also.

I'm letting my Model Aviation News subscription expire in February because the magazine focuses too much on 3D, tiny electrics and helicopters. I have nothing against helicopters or tiny electrics - they're just not my thing. And 3D - well, that's just unnatural! (I also think that looping something like a B-29 is strange! [sm=75_75.gif])
I get Model Aviation with my AMA membership but I have to admit that it seems to cater to the advertisers like everyone else. I've heard that RC Report is not like that but my LHS doesn't carry it. Where can I get it?
Also, any truth to the rumors that RCM might be coming back?

The industry seems to be leaving us kit builder rc glow fuel guys out for the sake of 1/4 scale, electric, and foamie ARF toys. I guess we will soon be relagated to the ash heap along with free flight and control line.

Yeah, I can see us now, on the last page of the March 2026 issue of one of the magazines, in our wheelchairs and walkers, talking about the Good-ol-Days of Glow and Nitro before being made obsolete by that newfangled 'lectricity thing. (Which, itself, was rendered obsolete by the introduction of the Micro Ion Drive in 2017.) The magazine will include humorous sayings by us old-timers like "carbon paper", "videotape" and "paper letters that we put in mailboxes." That oughta give the readers a laugh!
I'm already feeling old. It was bad enough when the oldies radio stations started playing songs from my teenage years but then, NPR started playing the ones I remember from my childhood! That Mozart could sure cut a rug!
