During this time of year when my family sits down to a big dinner table, we take a moment to remember those in uniform who have to eat their Christmas dinner out of a can while standing post. Been there - done that myself.
Thanks Guys and Gals!

I must add that all the moderators, forum members, everyone that provides information, stories, suggestions, anything at all that contributes to the sport are wonderful people. And I know that I may be speaking for a lot of people here, but I wish to thank each and every one of you for all that you have done for me in particular and for all in general.
Thanks so much!!

Happy Holidays from the guy that only pops in here every once-in-a-blue moon!
I regret being less helpful this year; it was mainly due to the RC car forums, where people would spam the same topic around several forums, and where newbies would ask the same questions over and over and over again, and sometimes spam the forum with dozens of threads on topics closley related. Granted, I, like everyone else here, was once a newbie, but I was like, "Is everyone going to not like it if I start this thread?" so I'd search around first, and I still think that now, and do that now.
Now, onto the presents, yeah, I'm a rotten egg. I got all my gifts before Christmas; a whopping two things.
I got myself a Sony DSC-H2 megazoom digital camera, and since my sister got a new iPod, she came over and gave me her old iPod Mini. I dislike iPods with a burning passion, but if its free, and avalible, I might as well use it, right?
Speaking of my sister, I'm almost done repairing my Avistar 40 MKII after she landed 20 feet north of the runway.
She was like, "I didn't crash; the runway didn't keep up!" [&:]
[&o] She did a perfect landing, heading straight, and even flared before she touched down; the only problem is that she was 20 feet off. Ripped the gear out, and the entire bottom of the fuselage to the landing gear block.
Now, who is going flying on 01 January 2007?
I'm going to weather the cold (50 degree F
) Paso Robles morning to log the first flight of the year at the field. Actually, for the last two weeks, its been around 20 degrees in the morning, and all the roads were icy. For those of you that live in the snow, we have two snow plows from the 1980's stationed in San Luis Obispo that serve the entire county.
I'm also going to Reno, Nevada in my 2WD Dodge Dakota pickup so that should be fun putting on chains. Would've gotten a 4x4, but four wheel drive vehicles have higher maintinence costs and things of the sort, plus I only go to the snow once a year, and I can drive fine through the sand with two wheel drive and the tires at 15PSI.

We always fly on the first. In fact, the only time in the last 10 years that we didn't fly it was THE WORST flying year I've ever had. So no matter what, we always make it out on the first. even if it's only to take off, circle the field, land, and then go for coffee at least we flew!!!

Thankyou to all who responded to my post. Through this technological medium, my family of friends is now truely Universal. May this festive season be your best ever, filled with Love and happiness, and of course lots of flying.
Now Flak , it is strange you asked that question , but Yes , it is true, the water does flush in a clockwise direction.
Merry Christmas everyone.

OK, this is a leetle bit off-topic, but I'm curious too:
So actually, it is *not* true? I seem to recall that this business about the counter clockwise motion of drain water is just a myth perpetuated by us non-antipodes (that would make us "podes", right?
) To me, the direction of swirling water seems random. I did check this out when I was in WA a long time ago, but sadly I cannot recall what my findings were.
But back to the topic: Merry Christmas to you all.
PS. Santa lives in Finland.

MadGenius,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year back at ya. I have a question; Does the toilet bowl water really flush in a counter clockwise motion?
