Hey Folks,
Due to an unfortunate loss in the family I have aquired some older pattern style planes. (So I have been told)
I have bodies for an A-6 Intruder and a "Forty" Cutlass. Also a wing for the Intruder. I have plans for each as well as foam that seems to be for the tail of 1 of these. the A-6 is a Fiberglas body and the Cutlass is plastic. The bottom wing cowls are there for each.
I am new to the sport and really need a trainer. Preferrably 60 size. Can anyone tell me if these would be worthy of any kind of trade. I know these are at least 25 years old. The ailerons seem to be there for the wing but are not installed.
I also got a plastic Lanier Jester and Balsa Super lucky fly that are near flight ready but need flight packs. Both have Veco 61's. Could these be used as a trainer with assistance from an experienced flier?
Thanks for any info.

The jester may be able to with a lot of help, but I wouldn't. You could sell them in the classified forums and get a suitable trainer, which would probably be best. I don't know about the cutlass, but the intruder wouldn't be good. Get with a local club and see if anyone would be willing to help you out with them. As I said, the jester isn't ideal, but it would work with time and a good instructor. Its going to be more than you want I bet.

I myself would be very interested in the Cutlass. I have always wanted to build a "Gutless Cutlass" aparently full size aircraft had not too much power. A6 is one of my all time favorite aircraft.

I would opt for a big 40 size trainer such as the Sig LT40. It only needs a 40 engine but is the same size as other 60 size trainers. Get a good engine that you can pull from your trainer and transfer to a 2nd type plane such as OS AX 46. The Veco 61's probably won't be that reliable or have that much power. [8D]

Well, they ain't the Navy versions of the Cutlass or the Intruder, but they do look like good, sporty airframes. Nothing you would enjoy learning on, though. As previously stated: find a trainer model and an instructor and by the time you get these assembled you'll be ready to enjoy them.

Delbert,
I have seen several similar complete pattern planes go thru our local swap meet and they really didn't bring much even complete.
They fly great but 3D they arn't.
