"Length tolerance is +1"
which means your purchased rod may be up to an inch shorter (or longer) than 6 feet. Be sure you can accept this tolerance before ordering.

RE: steel rods
Actually the negative tolerance is only 1/32"
I've never taken the time to measure any of the wires or rods I've bought, since they're always longer than I need anyway, but I'm guessing that's a pretty good tolerance.
From McMaster
Conform to ASTM A582. Can be heat treated to a maximum attainable hardness of Rockwell C26-C44. Diameter tolerance is ±0.0005". Straightness tolerance is 0.006" per foot. Length tolerance is +1", - 1/32".
