Hi.
I have NICD batteries in my receiver and airplane. How long should I charge these before flying? How long is too long?

I also have a 12 volt for the starter. Charge for the same length as the NICD?

If they haven't been charged in over a week (Or they're new) Charge for 16 hrs (if you're using the charger that came with the radio) No more than a day or two.

The 12 volt battery should also be charges at 1/10th capacity. A trickle charge (slightly above 1/50th capacity) is very good for lead batteries. Has been for many many years.
