] I have a plane with a Saito .72 a 14x4 APC prop and a plastic spinner. I tighten the nut and jam nut very tight on the shaft and the Prop still slips left and right. Is there a good way to make the prop grip the plates better. I tried one piece of sand paper between the prop and the plastic plate but now it slips between the plastic plate and the motors metal drive washer. If anyone has a good idea please let me know. Thanks..

I have never had any luck with those plastic spinners that come with ARF's. They always seem to come loose, and get broken or damaged by the starter, so I got a prop nut. Prop nuts are so much more simple, and if they do come loose, then they are very easy to tighten back on (although I have never had this happen). Be sure that when you are tightening the nut, that you use a long tool so that you can get lots of leverage to get it nice and tight.

My advise would be to replace the plastic-backed spinner with an aluminum-backed spinner:

Thanks for the help. I will buy one of those if this next try doesnt hold. The nose cone i have is a Dubro 2 1/4in. and a saito fa-72 . This time i took the plastic backplate off and looked at the back of it. Where it is supposed to set flat on the motors aluminum drive plate it was not touching it because for some reason the plastic plate is too small to fit over the motors plate so i used a dremel and cut 1/16th off the inner edge of the plastic ring all the way around, and now the plates touch flat which i hope gives it better grip. I think that might be why i was having so much trouble, although i agree the aluminum prop nut will hold alot stronger.

Thanks bigedmustafa. I didnt know they made those. The only reason i havent got a solid aluminum one is the weight. I would like to try one of those 2 piece ones.

I never did like those plastic spinners either due to slipping. You might want to be careful though grinding on it. You don't want to unbalance it too much. If you know of some one with a prop balancer, you might want to check it. I have one of the TF magnetic balancers that I can do spinners on and had to when I modified my Tru Turn spinner for APC props.
