What's the weather like there right now?
You'll need to contact the local club or go to the field to find out...
You never know, they might all be out there with their snow skis on..... (and on the planes)

Here in Central Illinois we play during the winter if the winds aren't too obnoxious and it's above freezing....well...actually we've flown when it was below freezing too.
Depends on whether you want to get anything done at home or not.

Grab your radio, sit in front of your plane and close your eyes. Now imagine yourself executing a perfect takeoff….gain some altitude….execute a 15 degree climbing bank away from the flight line. Isn’t that majestic…..watch out, a little gust of wind…correct and level off.
Now follow the pattern and return for a 200’ flyby, moving the sticks accordingly.
OK, that’s my relaxation when it’s cold or late at night and I need a break.
Visualize…relax….be the plane…

From: Heyworth, IL,
I was gonna try out the new skis on my trainer last weekend but it got so warm that the snow melted and then a bunch of fog rolled in. (darn) Now the temp has dropped back down into the teens and the winds have been a little too strong (25 - 30mph). Oh well, better head back down into the basement to build and hibernate some more...

..... and at the weekend the field was covered in a crisp even 4" of snow.
There was not a soul about on Saturday, I had the whole field to myself (very unusual).
I hand launched my Zephyr and got 7 flights in before it got dark. This plane is so light it barely made a dent in the snow when it landed (yup, even with my landings
)
On Sunday there were quite a few people at the field and two 72" Lazy Bees turned up complete with vintage style floats. These floats work very well.
One person just took the gear off their plane, hand launched it and belly landed it.

All our snow is gone but the bitter cold and high winds are back, that is the only thing that stops me from flying. Ther is nothing like doing touch and goes off a snow covered field.
