SLO V
ok i recently purchased a couple rc planes one of the three is the slo V made by PARKZONE. I purchased this one used and everything works great but the previous owner cut the antena to the receiver on the plane, for what reason i have no idea. So i went to the local hobby store and had them order me a new one with the right channel. I connected everything right for the new one but the motor came on as soon as i connected the battery (with the radio off) i checked all the wiring and everything was fine the servos worked so i knew i got the right channel but i could smell a electrical burn. so my question is... could i have a defective receiver or am i doing something wrong.
please help this is so frustrating cause i think its something simple.
thanks from the newbie

Yes... defective reciever. I had a bad one new out of the box in a parkzone P-51. The Zip-Tie that secured the receiver to the framwork was to tight and pinched the reciever causing a short curcuit and like you described my motor spun up and my servos locked all the way over but I HAD MY RADIO ON. Always turn on your radio and ensure the throttle is at zero before pluging power to an electric R/C. Horizon Hobby has awsome customer support and took my address over the phone and with no proof of original purchace sent me a new one.
Good luck
