Default tail dragger prob.

i have an old duraplane & the tail wheel won`t stay glued in the bottom of the rudder. lousy design. can i go to a tail skid & use the prop air & rudder to taxi & takeoff or would the r.p.m. need to be too high to be effective?

Default RE: tail dragger prob.

On several planes where I didn't want to install a tail wheel, or couldn't easily install a tail wheel in a conversion I've resorted to using Goldberg wing tip skids. They'll last forever as a tail skid on grass, and if it does wear down on pavement it's not too hard to change. To turn while taxiing, just hold some down elevator while adding throttle and kicking in full rudder.
