Why is this thread even important, Its like asking if your right handed or left handed.

Oh, and for the actual question at hand. It is important because almost every student I have taught in the past 8 or 9 years has asked the same exact question. My answer? I teach both, use what you feel comfortable with.

Whoa Ken slow down.
I was under the impression that CGRetired was not a beginer. I just figured he was bord, like me. Im not slamming beginners or anything, If they like thumbs or pinch it doesn't matter, why would they ask that? it is strictly a matter of what you like, right? Never mind.

It's a nice bowl and now you know to keep your hands out of the way of machinery. Cheap lesson really, some people lose their entire hand or leg learning it. OK, enough grossness.

ive been doing a bit of metalworking in my dads workshop (lathes, mills e.t.c.) but i still refuse to use angle grinders, they scare me
i leave the workshop if my dad starts using one...
ANYWAY Back on topic before i get a slap from the mods
having rather small hands but long fingers i prefer using Thumbs on the top of the sticks as i am used to not using a neck strap (its hard using the pinch method and holding the TX) but if you are confident in using it and it is comfortable for you then i cant see why either method is better than the other
PARADOX! [X(]
