Default What receiver to use RD6000

I just bought a RD6000 and the manual talks about a computer radio, digital servos, ppm & pcm. What can I use for a receiver? can I use either a ppm or pcm receiver? What is the difference between digital servo and non digital, and can I run either with this radio? What is a computer radio?

The nice thing about the RD6000 radio is that you can use any brand of receiver that you want to (i.e. Airtronics, Futaba, JR, Hitec) because it is selectable for the type of modulation that it can do. You can also choose between PPM and PCM as well. With this in mind it give you a huge selection of receivers to choose from. I've flown nothing but Airtronics radios for 10 years now and I've always been very satisfied with the Airtronics receivers. They are very reliable and will serve you well.

Hope this helps

What do you mean by modulation? I thought PPM and PCM were the types of modulation?

What I mean by the modulation in that context is the what the different brands of receivers use.

I think in this case Ken was referring to positive or negative shift as applied to the carrier frequency.

If you choose PCM, I THINK you will need to stick to Airtronics RX due to the way the signal is coded. It seems that NONE of the mfg could agree on what to do and they all do it their own way, so WE lose.

Yes, I should have pointed that out. If you want to use a PCM receiver you will need to use the Airtronics receivers.

As far as servos go, you can use either analog or digital. It doesn't matter to the reciever.

Any servos. Just watch out for wiring orientation.

Time for Ken's plug diagram again. Or just look here:

Bear in mine that while digital servos will move faster, they also suck the power out of the battery quicker. From what I have seen, for sport flying the differences aren't worth the extra cost.[8D]
