Default need some advice

Hey,

First time poster with a few questions. I'm relatively new to flying; I haven't owned any myself but I have flown a few of my friends' planes. Anyway, I just bought a cheap RTF kit off of eBay to get back into the swing of things. I also bought the Spektrum DX7 and the Hanger-9 P-51 60 Miss America. Can someone recommend a quality servo to use in the plane? I don't want to waste any money on junk. Thanks. Oh, anyone know of any flying clubs near Winchester, VA?

The servos included with the Spektrum DX7 are high torque digital sport servos and will fly the P-51 Miss America ARF quite well.

What's wrong with the servos that came with the DX-7? Or did you buy just the Tx and Rx?

I'm not familiar with any model #'s except Futaba. 3001's would be a good choice for the H-9 P-51. They're relatively inexpensive, are ball bearing, and have enough power (torque) for your needs. Or the equivalent JR servo. Both are compatible with the DX-7 system, although you have to trim the little tab off the Futaba connector.

if you are new to flying then please get with an instructor and dont try to fly the Mustang first. there is a club at bealton va. if you want to drive, then my old club is excellent, Fredericksburg Aeromasters. The best instruction around , it's free, and wednesday night is set aside just for students,

Thanks for the help. No, I will not fly the Mustang first although it will be hard not to. I didn't get the servos with the radio. I read somewhere else that the servos provided weren't all that so I opted to get just the radio. I don't know the first thing about the quality between the different makers of parts.

Dont worry about quality of the big brands, 90% is personal prefrence. I fly JR, I personaly think airtronics is the best, the are usualy the most expensive. Futaba is also good, I personaly would stay away from "cheep" brands i.e. Tower and Hitec (although I like Hitec mini RXs) One thing I know you dont want is GWS, lol I dont know anyone who would fly GWS in anything bigger than a park flyer.

But, I have heard good about Towers new 7ch rx, personaly they arent cheep-er enough for me to "risk" my plane.

I did fly my Hitec mini RX about 100 yards before remembering to pull out the antenna [X(]
That pretty much gained my confidence.
