Absolutely nothing wrong with that plane, she should be a great trainer, but maybe some more rubber bands for flight,

Oh yeah of course on the rubberbands....just had those on there while testing the controls...cannot wait on the weather to become flyer friendly!!!

Hey LawDawg take a little extra time to tack down the edges of the trim color monocoat as it will start peeling in your first couple of flights. Other than that little problem those are great flying planes.

What would you suggest using to tack it with? Forgive me but I am very new at this.

Most of the time a small drop of thin CA on the corners is enough.

Hi alan 0899, swap your weather mate, we have had 3 weeks of nothing but rain and strong winds . I am hoping , even praying for the weather to change tonight so i can get some airtime in tomorrow. These withdrawals are driving me crazy.

Welcome to RCU!! There isn't anything wrong with your plane at all. That is the same plane that I learned to fly on 10 years ago. I still have it today and it's still flying great (600+ flights). Before you try to glue down the covering use a little heat instead. This plane comes with a heat shrink covering on it. Since you probably don't have a covering iron yet, use a clothes iron. Set it at about medium heat and apply it to the covering that is coming up. If it doesn't stick it down then turn up the heat and try again. Keep this up until you find the heat setting that is right. Using glue or other items for holding down covering should only be done if everything else fails.

I cant tell the motor but that Tower trainer cant be beat for the money or build..I have one with an OS .40LA and it could use more power in wet grass takeoffs ( I work at night and fly in the morning) but once in the air it has "plenty'o'power".it flys at half to 2/3rd power most of the time..Rog

Before you iron that covering, put an old T-shirt over the iron surface. Will keep the iron clean and prevent scratches in the covering.

OK, a wee bit jealous, I admit. I also went flying today: dead calm, sunny, but 15C below zero. Could hardly feel my fingers during the last flight. [:@] I meant to do a clever thing and get myself an electric model for those very cold winter days when you don't want to mess with fuel and a not-terribly-easy-to-start engine --- only to discover that lipos don't like cold weather either...[:'(]

it looks like a tower .46. some guys give it a bad rap, but that motor has got a lot of snort. i have 2 of those engines now. you will fly around a 1/4 throttle with that motor. I had the same combo (motor/engine). i retired a plane and the engine was laying around and we kinda hit a funk at the field where nobody had a trainer for someone new to fly. so i bought the arf and a couple of people had fun with it. i had fun with it too.

I put 2 servos in the wing for aileron diferential. i think the instructions actually called for the rudder and ailerons to be Y'd together because the plane had a lot of adverse yaw through turns.

it was a pretty good bargain for the money, alhtough im not a fan of the cheap covering they use. go with a low heat covering such as towercote or econocote for repairs.

It is a tower 46 Dixie and I figured it would be a good engine to start with and could put it into a 2nd plane when that comes around...was wondering do I have to iron the covering or would a hair dryer work just top tighten up some spots?

A hair dryer just doesn't get hot enough to work. Hot air guns used for removing paint are too hot. Use the home iron and gradually raise the temp until you see a response. Don't rush it. Too much heat will damage the covering.

i dont think a hair dryer would get near hot enough. i would just assume you will love the hobby so much, you might as well just buy an iron and heat gun.

I had one of these.For the money you can`t beat them. I did have trouble with the decals and covering. Used my sealing iron on them worked fine., might have to glue the decals
I could`nt keep mine out of the treetops.but rest assured it was due to pilot error and not the plane.

Welcome Lawdawg. I started 18 years ago on a hand me down PT-20. You are ahead of the game. That is a nice trainer to start with. I hope you have an instructor to help you out.
