I am new to the hobby and dont really understand too much of how chargers work. I will be cahrgiing 7 Cell 3000MAH NIMH packs. WHat ccharger would you guys recommend. Would one that is both AC/DC be best? I would like to get a dual charger...one that can charge at least 2 packs at once. WHat is the usual charge time for such a pack? Any help would be great!

A 2-channel NiCd/NiMh charger that is both AC and DC compatible shouldn't set you back too much:

The Megatech Juicebox 2 charger would fully charge a pair of 3000Mah NiMh cells in about 60 minutes.

HEY B-MUTAFA....I DONT THINK THIS WOULD WORK FOR MY USE...IT STATES "When charging 7 cell pack use only an AC power source" KINDA DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF AC/DC. I AM WILLING TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE IF THERE IS A BENEFIT. BUT THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO RECOMMEND SOMETHING. WHAT DO YOU USE?

Ahh, I missed that in the tech notes. My bad.
I use the Hobbico Quick Field Charger MkII:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCTZ5&P=7
It's DC only. I connect it to my car battery and charge my stuff at the field next to my car. When I use it at home, I have a Radio Shack 15 amp 13.8V power supply that I connect it to.
I also recently purchaged the MRC Super Brain 989 charger:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLTW4&P=ML
It comes with its own AC power supply, can be used off a 12V DC power source, and will charge almost anything.
Somebody out there must make a good AC/DC NiMh charger that will charge 2 batteries for less than an arm and a leg. I know the Super Brain 977 charger will do two 3000Mah 7-cell batteries, but it's pricey at $95:

The 977 comes with the same AC power supply my 989 comes with, and will do battery cycling (automatic repeated charge and discharge), LiPo cell charging, and some other features you may not need. On the other hand, who knows what you might want to charge 18 months from now? If you don't mind spending the $95, the Super Brain 977 will do everything you want.
