Stay with the 11x6. With an 11x7 at idle, you may have a tough time getting the Cub to slow down enough to land. An 11x6 will provide better aerodynamic braking.

I have a mega BIG trainer 70" wing.
Everyone said to go with a 11X6.
I did then went back to the 10X6.
Landings were the same.
Loops were a bit slow on the way up.
Rolls were fine.Climbing rurns were good.
Level flight is 65 MPH
Landings wers around 20=MPH.
Your plane withha clipped wing and the 11X6 should be hot little item in the sky.
Just for kicks you may want to try a 12X4 AFTER you get the hang on the 11X6.

I know this post is a little late. I have the WM clipped cub 48 as well. It started with a .40FP. Best prop for it was the 11x3 APC. Not enough power. Put in the thunder tiger .46Pro. I ran that with the 11x5. It was a good combo. I think for the .46LA the best prop will be a 11x4. It should allow a great climb rate. I just swapped out my TT.46pro for a o.s. FS-61 four stroke. Really I think the .46pro was a tad more powerful but just barely. I love the putt...putt sound of this fourstroke though. It was worth it.

For a slow flying model... I will often put a 12.25X3.75 APC or a 12X4 Zinger wood prop on a .46.

When vertical performance is desired that is also what I will use on a .46.

You get high static thrust and the ability to take a suprisingly heavy model unlimited vertical. The low pitch also helps contrl speed in vertical descent, and allows you to slow down easilly for smooth landings. (the plane might slow down better with the engine running than with the prop stopped!)

10X7 or 11X6 for most sport aerobatic types which are light enough to get adequate vertical from the prop.

9X8 sometimes when speed is the goal... and I have plenty of runway. (and only with a lightly built plane that is made for speed...)

Match the prop to the airplane and the engine as wellas the way you intend to fly it... the plane will perform better.

Well,
Can some of you Pro's tell me what would be the best all around prop for the big Tower Hobbie Trainer?
