Default What second plane?

Hi, Guys. Well to make a short story even shorter, I'm looking for a second plane.

I currently have a tower .46 trainer, which I can fly very comfertably. I can do loops, rolls, stalls, and other basic "beginner areobatics"

I'm looking for a .40-.46 sized ARF. preferibbly under $160. I would like something semi-areobatic. Obviously something more areobatic then a trainer, but I don't want to jump too high.

A couple of planes I was looking at were:

Great Planes easy sport 40 ARF:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDTM8&P=0

and the Great planes dazzler ARF:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXF89&P=0

I was thinking mabe the easy sport woulden't be a big enough step, but the dazzler would be too big?

Please your help is greatly appreiciated. Feel free to post any other plane you think would be better. I'm not picky about brand, but I would prefer if I could buy it from tower.

THANKS!

If you are flying the trainer well, consider this one too.

I've been real happy so far with my Ultra Stick 60 as a second plane.. Configured it with the quad wing setup and there is plenty to keep me busy with for a while!!

I had the 4* 40 and then sold it and now I have the 4* 60. I think the 4* is a great plane. I also think if you do go with the 4* you will do great with it. I do not know about the other planes you listed since I have not seen one fly, but you will do great with the 4*, it will fly very slow or as fast as you can. It will almost stop in mid air for a landing if you want.

Sig four star all the way
It will teach you lots of skills due to the fact that it enters in ground effect on landing... so you have to fly it all the way!
managing throttle and rudder and virutally all controls.
On the other hand, it remains a slow flyer, and an acrobatic trainer as well.

A multi task plane shall I say also good for burning holes in the sky on a lazy sunday :P
Get the 60size if you have the space and money.

Squeaky read the review on it. Plane is fast and very aerobatic, requires a faster landing speed and you will have to think 3 steps ahead of the plane. Maybe something like the dolphin, tiger, 4*, or a stick. depending whether you want high or low wing ?
also http://www.americanpioneerhobbies.co...r_dragger.html I was looking to buy this plane but decided on a tiger 60.
Any of these planes and the ones others have reccomended would be great and you could transplant your radio and engine from
the trainer right into any .40 size.

Well, you'll hear alot of opinions on this subject so I may as well chime in.

My second plane was a kit built 4*60. A great choice.

Something else you might consider is a Tower Hobbies Kaos 40.

They're only $109.

I got mine on one of those Tower Hobby discount deals with an engine (and free shipping) for about $125.

Its a REALLY fun plane; very agile but easy to land.

Yes! Don't buy it for a second plane, could work as a third perfectly!

Get a stick, fly it till it falls apart. I like the H-9 ultra stick and the super stick.

I had this plane made by a friend's friend of mine, its locally manufactured easy sport 60 size tail dragger as my second plane. Im gonna have its maiden flight this sunday, it has .61 HB german powerplant 2C. I think easy sport of great planes is a good choice as a second plane, this is what I have been told by experts.

Good luck squeky penguin

Druff1,

Honestly eversince I saw Pulse XT of Hangar 9, I started drooling, its a best deal one can have. As its pretty hard to get it shipped to my country, thatswhy, its on my future list, as soon as Im gonna hit US, my first plane is gonna be H9's pulse XT and 60 size mustang.

By the way have you bought it if yes, have you flown it? if yes, how does it behave in the air? like a sweet loving babe?

I was thinking about this one:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDXM2&P=ML

does anybody have expierence with GMS engines? I see the O.S. .46 LA is just about the same price, but I've heard the LA series is a little weak.

Also, I live at a high elevation (about 7,300 feet) so I want the biggest engine I can stuff in this thing.

This won't help you much because I have never had a GMS, but I did have a O.S.46AX in my 4* 40 and it did great. So if the GMS are close to or the same as the O.S. you should love it. Have fun with it and let us know how it goes.

Just a heads-up, if you like the 40 size as much as I did and then go out and buy the 60 size, again like I did. I used a O.S.91 four stroke on it and it is even better.

Put the OS MAX 46AX on it with an 11x6 propeller...
Otherwise go fourstrokes

Congratulations, you made an excellent choice!!
What color did you get? red or yellow?

Armody,

Yes i have a Pulse XT and it's my first plane. I flown it about 5 times. I flew today in perfect conditions, finally! 65 degree temps. and less than 5 mph winds. This plane is a very fast and stable, yet it will land slow with no wind. I'm glad i started with this plane and not a trainer.

Check out this video of a couple of my landing in a grassy field that i fly in. My second landing was a little rough because this day was about 15-20 mph winds so i was coming in a little to slow.

Fadi81: I got the red one. I would have preferred the yellow, but when the LHS only has one red 4* in stock (for ten less then tower) I just jumped on it.
