For those of you Futaba experts, will a non computer buddy box let's say conquest 4 respect the Expo function in the main transmitter like a 4EXAS? Or will it over ride the programming.
Thanks!

The higher end Futabas have a buddy box setting where you can select NORM, FUNC or OFF for the buddy box on that channel.
OFF means the buddy box doesn't have use of that channel (an example would be to setup the student to only have aileron and elevator at first while the instructor maintains control of the throttle and rudder.
NORM means the channel is controlled according to the programming and mixing of the STUDENT transmitter (you have to setup a model with identical mixing, rates and expo on the student radio)
FUNCT (function) means the mixing, rates and expo are controlled by the student radio but according to the mixing/rates/expo etc setup in the instructor transmitter, this allows high end models or helis to be flown with a cheap buddy box.
I dont know if the low end radios have the same thing or not.

I'm asking this because I am teaching a kid who has a basic setting on a Stik 40 and a futaba 4EXA and he could only come up with a conquest 4 that is in very bad shape (The plane jumps with every input and the throttle gimble does not go to idle) and it is complicating everything. I fly with JR equipment. That is why I came up with this question. Anyone here want to get rid of an old Futaba or Hitec radio so we can help this guy out ?
Thanks!
Thanks!

If he configures the 4EXA without using expo or any of the other "special" features so that it flies smoothly then the other radio should be fine. Don't use sub-trims or EPA or NUTHIN! I've seen this need to happen before.
