Default Looking for an instructor in the Ridgecrest, CA area.

Is anyone in the area willing to teach a newbie, I work weekends so preferably someone who is retired or has a similar work schedule.

Thanks,

hey allen I am not sure where ridgecrest is in our enormous state but the first question is do you belong to a club and if not have you used the AMA club locater to find one generally you need to belong to the AMA to fly at AMA regestered clubs with a few exceptions the AMA provides liability insurance in case of a accedent that could poss. occure.
when finding a local club you are bound to find a available pilot to teach you the basics of flying and the related info to make your life in RC easier

Allen, there is a club in Ridgecrest that flies out on the base. I used to have the phone # and info but lost it due to a computer crash. G. Jeffers lives in Trona and might be willing to give a few lessons. He is a member here at RCU, so you might try to contact him with a PM.

Thanks guys, I just e-mailed the head of the local group. Just wanted to explore other avenues as well.

Dragon Eagle,
I lived in Ridgecrest in the early to mid 90s and worked for the geothermal company there.
How is that lovely little burg these days? Has there been much growth?
Thanks,
KW_Counter

Hi DragonEagle -
I live in Ridgecrest as well. The club on base is pretty good. A great bunch of people. If you can get on base it would be worth checking out. I also heard that some were flying off of Brown Road South of Hwy 395 South of town, althouth I have not talked to anyone there. Club membership on base is $50/Yr. AMA membership is a must of course. It is a great place to fly. If you should find another spot off base I would be interested also, so let me know. We should meet. WSL
