Default Maiden flight

Well we took the Stitchen out this evening and got the maiden flight under it's belt. The fella who trained me took it off and trimmed it. Then it sputtered once so he brought it in after about a 4-5 minute flight. Then I tightened the steer wheel and adjusted some of the necessary trim out of it and he took it up again. Then he handed me the sticks and I'll tell you WOW!!![8D] Is that ever the greatest feeling to fly a plane that you built from a pile of balsa wood. I was able to land it without incidence and I just had a piece of covering come loose. (Live and learn.) But 5 minutes with a iron and we will be back in business. Also had two great flights on my trainer. Managed about 1/3 of a pattern inverted. Best of all I was able to land both times on the first aproach! That was a first. and second.

We also took my 10 year olds Skyrunner out and he flew that around for a flight. Terry took it off and landed it but he kept it in the air for quite a while. It is always neater to see your kids do something than it is to do it yourself.

Thanks to all the great advice and encouragement that comes from all at this site.

Hope your day was great as well.

Del

Congrats man....I remember the first time a I maidened a plane on my own. It was a disaster, but I got it back and flew it for over 12 gallons of glow fuel.

Soon, you will maiden your own and just have a blast. Sticks to sky...what a great hobby!

Congrats Del. It is a great feeling to maiden some thing you made yourself . And involving your kids is a good thing. Today, it is to easy to let a computer or game box entertain our kids . This hobby is a great way to share quality time with the family.

Congrats Del, you've just experienced the second best feeling in RC. The solo flight is the best of course, but the maiden flight is close!! Good job.
