multi planes on 1 remote

hi all, i just bought a hanger 9 F-22 raptor, just for something to play with. anyway i already have a matt chapman 580,a chipmunk and a nexstar. so the F-22 comes with a jr sport sx600, and has a 10 model memory. i was wondering how to put my other planes on it ? the manual tells me how to change to different models , but thats it. do i need to buy new crystals or receivers ? and by the way it flies pretty stable as a trainer, and with the added flaps and a little tweaking on the throws its a nice sport flier as well. thanks again for any help setting up my remote

You'll need JR, or JR compatible, receivers on the same channel as your transmitter. Technically you could move the one receiver from plane to plane but that would be a hassle if you wanted to fly multiple planes the same day.
When you change to "model number 2" or any other number (page 20 of the manual), it is a new model until you program it. That means all settings are at default values until you change them. Some transmitters allow you to copy settings from one model to another. The SX600 does not. It does have a data reset (page 19) that will set any model number back to default values so you can start over with programming.

All the receivers must be JR and the chystals must be on the same channel. You can also use Hitec but it must be on the JR shift and the same channel #. It's much easier to have all your plane on one radio. One channel # to remember and maintain and only one to take to the field. If you have any other question ask Danny on the JR forum. Dennis

Hi,
You already have good advice. I would add that you need to include a new check to your pre-flight check list. Always make sure the model selected on the TX is the one you are about to fly. If you wear glasses to read make sure you wear them for this check

The best thing to do when using multiple modles with a single radio is to have a cheat sheet. This can be on the plane or on the radio. The cheat sheet will be a list on the radio of what modle the planes are or it would be as simple as a number on the plane telling you what modle it is. This way you won't try to fly a modle with the wrong servos reversed or the ATV set wrong or the trims set wrong. Any of those thing could result in an instant crash just because you picked the wrong modle memory. This is one of the best features of the Spektrum DX-7. It won't let you fly a plane if the wrong modle memory is selected.

I have a piece of foam for each plane. It has the model number on it. The foam is stored on the prop of the plane. When I go to fly that plane I remove the foam, change the model on the transmitter, and then hang the foam on the end of the transmitter antenna. When I switch to a new plane, the first thing I do is remove the foam and put it back on the prop. then I get the foam off the prop of the next plane, etc...
Putting the foam on the prop provides a visible signal that prevents me from starting a plane before I've changed the transmitter to the right model. I also follow up a model switch by standing BEHIND the plane and confirming that each control surface moves in the appropriate direction.
