I'm new to this forum so I'm posting here to hopefully get a response. I offered to buy a DX7: http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=285884. The item is now marked sold but my offer is still pending. Does this mean I purchased the item? Or is it not available? I want to purchase a different DX7, but I'm not sure if I've already committed to buy this one. I haven't heard from the seller yet.

your offer is still pending so it was probably sold else where.just go to my market/my offers and withdraw your offer and you will be free to buy something else

Have you tried sending a PM to the seller? I have had this same situation happen to myself once, and it turned out that I was the one that the sale was pending to. Your best bet is to contact the seller and make sure whether he is selling to you or not. But if you make an offer on the other radio and it turns out that you were the one getting the first one somebody is going to end up filing a bad report on you as a buyer. A little patience is what is needed here.

Ok, I'll try to wait until tomorrow morning. But I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on another deal if this seller takes too long. Next time I purchase something I think I'll ask them if they have it ready to ship and THEN make an offer. That way I'm not committed to somebody that might not even respond to me. You're right though, probably just need some patience.

I wouldn't start to think that you're missing out on other deals. Radios are really commodity-type items, and unless you're looking for something quite specialized and rare another will always come along soon.

The marketplace is very dysfunctional. The guy places an ad. Then a bunch of stupid questions are asked. Then the guy does not check the replies for a week and those who responded who wanted the plane have now given up on him for not answering the stupid questions. Now there is so much going on, nobody knows who bought the plane and again nothing is answered and everyone is frustrated.

Actually that's not too far from the truth. I've sold a few items here. Once, a guy commited to buy an engine, said payment was on the way so I boxed up the engine. A week later, no $, so I email him. Says the money was sent. Another two weeks, still no $ and no response. Meanwhile, that user's info mysteriously disappeared so that I couldn't even report him for non-payment. Still haven't figured out what exactly happened there. No matter, I sold the engine to a clubmate, cash in hand. Then, a while back, I sold an on-road car kit. I clearly stated in my ad "no overseas shipping" and "no trades". First, a guy in Aus. wants to buy it, and for less than I'm asking with shipping! Then, some kid wants to trade me a playstation or something! Wound up selling that one to a local guy who saw the ad on here and emailed me privately with an offer. No questions, got my asking price. I even offered to cut him a deal since I didn't have to ship--he wouldn't hear of it.

I like the marketplace here overall, I just wish people could READ and FOLLOW THE RULES more often.

Well I ended up buying from someone at RCGroups. It's just much easier to PM back and forth to make the sale. That way you have communication throughout the entire process, rather than committing without communication. It seems like the market gets a ton of traffic though, maybe I'll try it again but will be more cautious next time. Thanks all for your help.

If you PM'd him with no response for a few days, then you are not out of line going else where.
