Larger engine for a Extreme 540 by Goldberg
I am building an Extreme 540 3-D ARF by Goldberg. The plans, (which aren't very detailed) call for the engine to be a two stroke .32-.46 or a .40 - 63 four stroke. I would like to put a Enya .60 model 7032 on this plane if at all possible. Would this be to much for this plane? Thanks

That plane as been known to come out tail heavy. That engine should work out good on it. You might try a 13x4 prop also.

Don't you mean an Extreme 330 ARF? In my opinion that .60 2 stroke on that plane would be good for 1 thing....suckin up a lot of fuel. If you plan on doing any 3-D with that plane an O.S. 70 surpass 4 stroke would make it dance real nice in the air with plenty of thrust for 3-D flying.
Good luck

It is a 540, not a 330. I am wanting to use the engines that I have for this plane. I doubt that I will be doing any 3-d with the plane any time soon. I am wanting a race car to putt around in I guess. My choices for engines are the Enya 60, Kraft 61, Ueda 55, Enya 35, Fox 40, OS Max 40, OS Max 35. These are engines that I have and I just wanted to do something with the Enya 60. The smaller engines don't really look right for the plane. Thanks for your advice.

Goldberg produced both the 540 and 330. I have a 330 and have flown two 540's. The 540 flew better with the 60 size when using a 2 stroke.

I don't know about the 330, but the 540 was built with the heavier of the engine range in mind. I tried a .46AX in mine and it's way tail heavy. An OS 60FP made it come out just a tad nose heavy, but that's an older heavier engine. Start with the Ueda. That should come pretty close to the recommended CG. If it's still a bit tail heavy, throw the Enya on it. The Kraft, I would think, would be too heavy.
