It depends on whether a ball bearing or bushing engine and what your application is. If an OS engine the instructions give some good guidance on propellors to use for various applications. I have a 46FX and use 11x6 propellors for funflying on large trainers but you can go 11x7 just as well. I have a LA46 and I fly it on a combat spad with 10x6 or 9x7 propellors no problem. check your manual

When I flew my World Models T-34, I flew an OS .46fx. I tried both the 10x6 and the 11x6 APC and MA. I personally like the APC 11x6 prop. It pulled well, and it allowed me to actually hover this airplane (I couldn't pull out, but I could hover
).Just my .02.

How about for a Tower Hobbies .46, and an Airmadillo trainer? I haven't purchased either the airplane or the engine yet, but it would be convenient to order the props at the same time as the engine. Thanks in advance!

The good old 10x6 is probably a good starting point,i'd also order an 11x6, 10x7 and an 11x5.
order 1 of each and see what YOU like they wont go astray

I have two TT Pro46's. I use 11x5 APC.
I like those props. One is on a Sport and the other is on a Sig SE(Yet to fly it, waiting for the weather to break).
I also use a Master airscrew 11x6 on my son's trainer. It has a Tower hobbies 46. These seem a little tougher for hard landings.

I have flown (and crashed) the Airmadillo Kombat 40 and 46FX for a year now. As a trainer I would go the 11x6 or 11x5 for sure. It will give you takeoff power and keep speeds down somewhat over other sizes. The 'dillo is a little faster than other trainers and a 5 would help. Good combo and you can add the smaller wing later and have a fair hotrod for learning new things.. Good luck

How about a recommendation for an Alpha 9 Trainer with an Evolution .46.
I did my first take off today and have done about 6 flights. No landings yet. I have flown the last 2 saturdays. My instructor said I should be able to solo before May at the rate I am going. I have the Real Flight G2 and he says he can tell it has really helped.
We broke my prop today on the last flight while landing, it was really windy out today. Local Hobby shop has the 3 bladed prop on back order. I need a recommendation on a 2- bladed prop.
Thanks....Patrick

Woodsy-
I love that signature that you use-if it's stuck...force it!It reminds me of a few guys that I know that fly planes that look like you just walked into the middle of a garbage dump, picked up a big handful, wrapped all of it in a bundle with some masking tape and strapped an engine to it!Guys that use a 1/2' breaker bar to install glowplugs and when it breaks off in the head say "now how the !@#$%^& did that happen??!!I love it-classic as Gleason, the stooges and WC Fields!

12x4 will fly your 46FX slower but you will gain lifting power, I have never try it on a trainer but I love it on my Dazzler although for a long time I used 11x7 then 11x6 got me more pull and reading in RC universe about 12x4 made me tried, I am happy with it however I just got a 12.25x3.75 and I will try it next saturday.
I will inform you how it did

A 10x6 prop on a ball-bearing 46 seems to rev real high but doesn't have a lot of umph. I usually use a 11x6 APC sport prop on my .46's. I do have a 10x7 on the GMS .47 on the Kadet Senior but I haven't flown it yet. Waiting for nice weather. There's been mention of using a 11x5 and I'd like to try that too.

I had a Super Tigre 46 with an 11x4 APC on a Somethin' Extra. It flew great and would hover, t-roll, and pull out of a hover without a problem.
