I know, I know! I just wanted to see what beginners had on theirs. Maybe they're still diddling around with their Venus 40's!
After flying my astro hog with an os 91 4 stroke on it today at 6 1/2 lbs. I wouldn't settle for anything less than the OS 120 AX 2-stroke for the Venus ll at 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 lbs. !!!
And that's a fact!

Does anyone know of any pattern flying videos on the web? I'm interested in getting into pattern flying (not to compete but to fly it) and I don't quite know what the manuvers are.

Rob, Go to the AMA site. They have info on competition pattern flying . I can`t make heads or tails out of it, but it`s a starting point. Or an other option is to hang out with the Dude`s!!! Some are 13 years old and some are 84 , Hang out with Dudes or Dudettes and they`ll show yuo how it`s done.
Back to the topic, If you are talking the big one ,go gas. Glow will be spendy ,
Venus .40 size ,2 or 4 will work. depends on your style of flying . I have one 2 stroke and it sits in a drawer and I gave the others away. But I like torque so I`m partial

The folks in the RC Universe Pattern Flying forum have written exhaustively on this subject:

The O.S. Max 1.20 AX seems to be a favorite engine for folks not competing

Good Luck, I`m pretty fortunate to have a few pattern fliers at the Club A father is teaching his son after taking a 30 yr. break and I try to pay close attention to them when he is instructing his son. The father is flying 30yr old planes that he had when he was flying competition and they are mint. Most resemble the Venus in the way their designed.
I was going to buy the Venus or build the reissued GP Ulta Sport , for pattern flying, but I just started flying a GP Skybolt this week and find this plane well fly pattern well and will do awesome aerobatics. So I`m going to stick with it for a while.
