I just put something together and am getting a slight servo buzz when i put my ear up to the servos in the neutral position. What kind of things should I be checking to eliminate the buzz? I am assuming the buzz is sign of strain which will put drain on the battery. I have amde adjustments and I cant seem to rid myself of the buzz.

What kind of servo?

Digitals buzz...period.

check the servo without the pushrod attached to see if there is any buzzing sound.

it doesn't take much to get a noise out of a servo some servos do buzz no matter what, something to consider, moniter your batt. drain, alot of the time the power loss is so little that it is insignificant but noise means that there is something thats not right.

Question; what model.
what servo type.
radio.
what kind/brand of pushrod, and is there guides in the pushrod tubes if there metal rods.
sometimes there can be binding if the guides ar not placed correctly.

Servos are Futaba 3004. Metal Pushrods. Plastic guide tubes. I was thinking I could have done a sloppy job on bending the ends on the servo side or the guide tubes are places to low (also on the servo side.) I guess Ill keep playing with the rods.

Stiff linkages are the usual problem but try this. Work the servo back and forward using the TX, your internal servo feedback pot might be a little 'dirty' It may stop.

I have some servos like this and they get relegated to throttle duties.

Old timers will remember the early servos and cleaning the feedback pot was done every few months. Dismantling the servo to do the job.

Hmmmm...."dirty"- Well the servo was in a crashed Super Sportster. Other than possbile battery drain...is there any negative effect?

When I get this on my planes I normally diconnect the servo arm with the push rod still attached then reconnect so everything is centered. If there is still a buzz on the servos then I use the Sub-trim option on my Radio to make tiny adjustments to find the spot where there is no buzz.

Sub trim.....good call. I didnt think of that. I will try tonight and let you guys know for your own future ref.
