Hangar 9 products are imported and distributed by Tower’s primary competitor.

Tower’s parent company is the US distributor for all of the brands listed at
http://www.bestrc.com

Horizon is the US distributor for Hangar 9 and a bunch of other brands.

Ever notice ,they sell Magnum and Sig products , but never advertise them in the Flyers ? But they list them on line. Nor do they stock parts for either. Just thought that was odd. Since Magnum is part of [link]http://www.globalhobby.com/[/link]

However, there is a new kid on the block - Advantage Hobbies

They sell both Tower AND Horizon products

I met the guys in Toledo this year and I have bought some stuff from them. Great service and great prices.

I will definitely use them again

Looking at prices at that web site, Mike, I sure am glad I bought my DX7 when I did. Seems that everybody is now selling that radio system for $349 !! I paid considerably less for it back around Christmas. (sorry for hijacking the thread.. I just had to comment on that).

Somebody, scold these mods & oldtimers, this thread is Waaaay off track. Sounds like RTF means "Ready to Fondle".

About the original question, Tower buys products at a discount and sells them for a profit. I doubt that their competitor (Hangar 9) would provide an adequate discount to make their products attractive to Tower.

However, if you see opportunity knocking here, get into business and go into competition with them!

Good luck,
Dave Olson

Tower Hobbies is the retail outlet for Great planes model distibution. Anything made or sold by Great Planes
is also sold by tower. Actually they share the same warehouse. GP is the only distibutor of OS and Futaba
in the U.S.

Hanger 9 is an in house product line for Horizon Hobby (2nd largest distributor of hobby products)
Horizon is the only distributor of JR, Spektrum, Evo, And Saito. in the U.S.

80% of all the stuff you see at the LHS was most likely ordered from these companies.

Tower Hobbies and Advantage Hobbies have one thing is common average to full retail pricing . I just looked at their website and didn't see anything pricewise worth bragging about. If their shipping is better than Towers they may be worth a look. One of the reasons I no longer buy from Tower is their really, really slow shipping at inflated prices. Last order from Tower took over 10 days to get to me here in Massachusetts . Much prefer Grayson Hobbies , BP Hobbies or Hobby Lobby....

That's odd, most of the stuff I order from Tower arrives in a few days. The stuff from their Reno warehouse does take a bit longer, but most everything I get seems to come from IL in a couple days.
