Default Control Rod question

I am converting an LT-40 ARF to a taildragger, what is the easiet way to drill holes through the bulkheads for the controlrod, I tried putting a drill bit on the end of a composite control rod, accuracy wasn't airworthy?? Is there an extension for a drill bit to achieve this?

They make long drill bits, not sure where to find them. perhaps a hardware store not Lowes or Home Depot a real hardware store. If that fails try a company called Aviall they have an 800 number. call the 800 directory assistance. I'm sorry I can't remember their number.
I just modified a kit... kept it a trike cause I didn't wanna fool with the rudder steering issue.
I took out all the dihedral in the wing, added winglets. shortened the horizontal stab span by 3 inches, decreased the vertical stab quite a bit, but I added a dorsal fin at the base. then I have dual rates on all controls
Flies well, easier to roll and fly inverted. Oh I stuck with the LT-40 design on the fuselage but I made it green on the bottom with gray stripe above. My AMA numer is on the bottom of the vertical stab in green.
Good Luck

Thanks, I finished about 20 minutes ago, using a long drill bit a buddy had. Worked like a champ. To convert to taildragger I used the sullivan tail wheel, with a ball joint works perfect. Hopefully my Saito .62 shows up 2morow. I've been using the new OS FSa .56, looking for a little more kick in the tail, without weight sacrifice. Thanks for the Help

I have had reasonable success by taking a 3 foot long music wire, hammering the end flat, dressing to a point with a grinder then use a battery powered drill to drill holes buried deep in a wing or fuselage. Just use a very slow speed and it will work. Use as large a diameter wire as you can to prevent excessive whipping and center the point on the improvised bit.

Here's one source. These are cobalt 12 inch. They also carry regular high speed steel bits and 6 inch and standard lengths....

Both fractional and numerical sizes.

Yup Rodney's solution works pretty well for me too.
