just got super cub, but the transmitter is awful. i dont know why they shipped that one but it doesnt have a 360 degree stick, just two 180- up down-side to side sticks. its not the one in the manual...anyway my question is:
i have a 4ch transmiter reciever set that i want to instal. first problem is the stock servos are 5 pin in the s-cub, my reciever is 3 pin. im assuming i will have to get two 3 pin servos, dont know if there is anyway to adapt the wiring.. or?
also, the stock reciever in the cub is a Rx/ESC.. will i have to buy a new ESC to control the motor with my new reciever(i believe it is simply a reciever, not an ESC)
im a complete beginner at this so any advice is apreciated! cheers!

It would help if you told us what brand of Super Cub you have. There are quite a few out there. Provide internet link if able.
Off the top, what you are trying to do may not be economically feasalbe. You would need to change ALL of the electronics I believe including getting an ESC for the motor. Good chance you would be further ahead buying a second plane and building it up.

You'll just need a different type. You'll need either a mechanical (not good) or an electronic one meant for a DC motor. If "bro" knows better, have him wire it and pay for the damage.
BTW - there are electric forums on RCU with very knowledgeable people and also www.wattflyer.com which is RCU's all electric site.

my bro tells me i dont need an esc for a brushed motor?

You don't if you just wanna let it run at full throttle. If you expect to have throttle you needed a brushed motor speed control.
It likely you will find nothing in that electronics package compatable with hobby grade systems. If you are unhappy with what the seller sent then I would take it up with them.

Depending on what hobby shop you bought it at, they may not know any more than 'bro' does about the speed control. Think about it a minute. ESC means Electronic Speed Control. That means it takes the throttle (speed) information that your transmitter is sending and converts it to something that will in fact control the amount of current to the motor to 'control the speed'. As Bruce said, you can do that mechanically with a servo I imagine, but the electronic circuit you would need to control the current would probably not be within the abilities of an average RC flyer. And all you would be trying to do is duplicate what the esc does already, and probably much more efficiently.
Your best bet is to just fly it the way it is, then the next time you are ready to 'upgrade' to something more capable, ask around here on RCU and get the opinions of those that know best.
Good luck.
