Default 2.4 tx

I was told by a LHS person that there is short range and long range 2.4 tx. Is this true. I want to purchase a spektrum 2.4. But don't want a short range model. Thanks

If you want a Spectrum, get the DX-7. It has at least as much range as 72MHz FM does. The DX-6 is for park flyers only; this must be what the LHS was referring to as a "short range" system.

Spektrum is the only major company that I know of currently producing a "short range" 2.4 system. They did this while entering the arena. I doubt they are selling many DX6 TX's at this time. Still selling plenty of RX's for Park Flyers though.

Bruce are you saying that the DX6 is the short range tx and DX7 the normal one?

You can use both of the RX's on the DX7... meaning the DX6 and the DX7 RX (whatever their designation are) but not vice versa (meaing not on the DX6). Both are light weight and will serve you just fine on whatever you put them on.

Back to DX6 vs DX7. I jumped on a DX6 when it first came out. I sort of wished I waited for the DX7. Anyone know if it's possible to buy a module to upgrade my DX6 for larger models with the DX7 type receiver?

Well, Here I would like to add one thing, as I have been advised on many topics by Bruce, CGRetired and ofcourse many respectable moderators. Here in Pakistan, we have a saying, "A Horse and A Man never get old, provided they take care of their health and diet" plus chasing girls, it's an inborn thing in humans which I cannot do, cos my wife is American, and American women you all know. As well as height is concerned, my brother is 5' 8" and Im 5' 11" not 6 feet completely, my friends of college like 6' 5" etc. Anyway, Just wanted to add my things to that thread as this thread and you guys comments really amazed me.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND HAVE SAFE FLYING.

One more thing, As my US visa is still in the process GOD KNOWS when this security check would be finalized Im moving from my city Karachi to Islamabad as I got a job there, I hope it would be a good transition for me as well as for my wife, cos scenery wise our capital Islamabad is like California, so green, so beautiful.

Thanks and all the best to you all and GOIRISH, Good luck buying with your new RX, HAPPY FLYING.

Mody

Brumo - I've never heard of a mod to upgrade the DX6 and I think I recall Danny saying it can't be done.

Armody - Congrats on the job. I know that you said in the past that they were hard to find over there. Having one may also help with the visa. People over here tend to think better of those that work over those that sit around. Right or wrong, that's the attitude IMO. Not working = lazy unless you're rich or retired in the eyes of many. Over here there IS a job for virtually anyone that REALLY wants to work. It may not be a great job or one that you like but it's honest work.

Yeah.. Submarines. Nuke boomers (FBM's) back in the 60's. Spent time in Scotland, Charleston, SC, Norfolk, VA, and Guam. Neat stuff. I'm older and wiser now...
