I dont think I was but not real sure. My buddy/instuctor was there beside me. Happened so fast not sure. Its possible I overcorrected leveling her out. Anyway the leading edge broke but not all the way through...have already put the CA to it. the elevator came loose and broke a chunk out where the hinges go in. Gonna pick up a piece of balsa and "splice" it in and may go with GP pin hinges I have sitting around.

Cartwheeled BEFORE touchdown?? I don't think so. Cartwheeling is caused by ground contact.
Sounds more like a stall and possibly a snap. I realize it's the result that counts and that is unfortunate but repairable. Keep the speed up.

"just b4 touchdown she cartwheeled" means ANY part of the plane IMO. Ya hooked a wingtip. As said above, it happens. Anyway, still sorry for the damage.

was the tower trainer MOON and sorry bruce...maybe cartwheel is a technical term...I simply mean the plane did a pretty cartwheel....better than most cheerleaders...got the supplies to fix today. Just gotta make due with some balsa could not locate anything in the same thickness...this is about 1/16 slimer but should be ok.

Not a big deal, just trying to clarify the issue. Had it been me writing the post I MIGHT have said: "As I was landing the wing hit first causing the plane to cartwheel". This would have left no doubt as to what happened IMO.

Good luck on the repair. Oh, I've done the dreaded cartwheel maneuver before too. [] I think most of us have.

Usually caused by a little more left or right when what you need is opposite when the plane is coming towards you; Practice banking and correcting in the air when the plane is coming towards you, move the stick towards the low wing till it becomes automatic. Taxi practice also helps. As Bruce says we've all done it.
