Fox Eagle 60 runs hot

I have a probably quite old Fox Eagle 60 that runs very hot then slows down and finally quits. Runs good when it is cold. I have tried running it very rich but doesn't seem to make any difference. It still gets hot. I am using Sig 15% nitro all synthetic. It is becoming frustrating to say the least. Thanks for your help in advance.

try a fuel with less nitro or a colder glow plug and a bit more oil .fox engines like castor oil.you can buy castor oil from sig and add it,if I remember correctly every oz of oil added to a gallon will increase the perecentage by aproximately 1% so about 4 oz of oil per gallon should give between 20-22 % oil.

What if what I am using is full synthetic--still add it? Still won't let load the pictures. Maybe someone like Ken, Minnflyer or Bruce can help me.

thanks, I will try and get some 5% with castor. Don't want to change the whole setup if I don't have to. When it runs it screams.

Will any of my other engines run on that blend. enya 60, mag 91 4st. mag 52 4st. mag 46 2st. OS 46, 40 LA, OS 40. Or do I carry two blends?

I've only run a few pre surpass 4 strokes back then they used the same fuel with out a problem I do not have the 4 strokes you mentioned so I do not know.there is nothing wrong with using fuel with more oil you will notice that the instructions give minimum oil content but not a maximum.the nitro content affects idle performance more than anything else.try the 5% nitro blend in your engines and if it idles for you then you are all set.

My Feedback: (6)
If your engine crankcase is three peices plus the head it is an Eagle II or III. A two peice crancase plus the head it is an Eagle IV. If it is one of those reduce the nitro to 5%. I run 0 nitro one these with good success. If I put 15% omega blend it becomes a real cranky engine. I'll bet if you reduce the nitro you'll get a better running engine with better fuel economy with cheaper fuel.
By the way a one peice crankcase means it is an original Eagle. I do not know if the 0-5% nitro suggestion does any good with it. I do not have any experience.

What we found back in those Good old days was the carb could not be adjusted where it would stay where you adjusted it . The only thing a guy can do is get one of their newer carbs
or check under the 2 screws in front and see if the low speed has some thing in it.. With that bypass fuel system it can change on it own[:@]

Gee!! Bruce--I though the muffler opening was supposed to face the prop so it would act like a super-charger. Also it has a pressure nipple on the back plate as well as on the muffler. So I use the back plate one?

Looks normal to me.
