it's FMS.lol
so please so let not start compairing if rf 3.5 is better or this is that, it works for me.
the g3 sticks on my PC so i'm not about to go out and buy a new PC just so I can run the g3.
I think arf has gotten better over the year, back when you don't really push then through the paces.
it dosen't matter if it's an arf or kit. I bash them regardless.
I chose a kit over an arf simply becuase i don't mine looking like everyone else
and I can bash them. the 4* is a great kit for bashing, mine dosen't look like what's on the box..just like what i do to FMS.lol
Plus i know I built it. I know where all the weak pionts are at.
if you buy an arf all the time, you're not going to learned about air frame, but some people just like to fly
it's a hobbie , i enjoy building just as much as I do flying.
I have a hanger full of models of veriouse kinds and veriouse equipments of verious brands.

first off flyx why do you find the pulse on rfg3.5
and to big when it was time for me to buy my next plane i had it down to the pulse and the 4*. the pulse won due to a few reason. one i had talk to some people who had them also the great people here online they fly almost the same most say the "new" pulse flys better. all h9 did was take a great plane and make it a little better. also price played a major fact in it. and it looks better to me. i am not saying the kadet senior should be tossed in the trash becuse it old (this will be my next kit for the winter) things change cars houses everything in your world around you has changed and it will kept changing it's the way it goes. some of the oldies will be forgot and thats just the way it goes i do. i am not trying to start things on here it just sound like some of the older guys at my club who dont fly and sit around and bash others for there flyin. and yes the "Craptor" is just what you said with the fishing lures all thesse companys are makein flashy plane take new polts can relate to. most new polts are younger. this is the planes there growing up with it what they know.
sorry for the long post and this post was not to start stuff just show another point of veiw

I just have to say that the pulse xt is the best airplane I have ever had period. Hanger 9 has done a great job. It looks great, and the covering is very forgiving. Flies like a dream.. I just crashed mine yesterday after flying it every day for the past 3 months. They are on back order, unless you buy the rtf version. untill Dec. 7th. So I bought 2 rtf"s today, since they are still available, just in case they become discontinued. Thats how much I enjoy this plane..

I bought the pulse because i like the color red. just kiddin guys.
I bought it due to the fact that it was a Mike McConville design. Still kiddin.
I bought it because i needed to satisfy an urge. I do not know exactly why.
My grandpa Bob (who introduced me to the hobby ten years ago when i was 16) died when i was 18. I did not have much time to learn the hobby from him. luckily my father and uncle kept me motivated although they never flew RC-just control line when they were kids. Neither of them build or fly now.
I have built several planes from kits and now 2 from arfs. Building comes naturally to me. I started with blasa sheet and silkspan then i learned iron on. It takes a certain mindset to use either to produce a high quality covering (i can vouch for iron on being healthier LOL). I finally got out on my own after college and marriage and settled in a more populated area where rc is organized.
I flew my Eagle2 this autumn. It was the third plane i built from kit. my first rc! I met a friend here through another friend. I found out that he flew rc and we began talking. He had flown ARFS for a couple years. then i began flying with him too. soon enough i was bankin the crud out of that trainer and rollin, loopin, attemptin pathetic hammerheards and such. i was finally gettin a good hang on it when at last i took her off and got it up and i seemed to have only partial control of what i was telling it to do! To this day i do not know exactly why we(buddy box) lost control of it. I know the aileron response was comprimised as the take-off was NOT typical as i had to use rudder and elevator to level it off.
my friend was devistated that he wrecked my trainer. He was WRONG! He did not crash it- WE did lol. I dont know why he takes so much responsibility for the wreck. I think he he felt that he should have been able to save it, which he nearly did! But it hit a spectator barrier inverted at 14000 rpm with an enya .45.
That leads me to my first arf (wich my friend felt he had to get for me). My kadet lt40. I love this plane. and it is a tried and true ship.
I am working on my pulse now to have a back up for the kadet.
I can tell you all lots of good and bad things that have happened with the flying, but we learn from everything we encounter. I know if it wasnt for the ARFS, i wouldnt be in tha air yet ! Nor would i own a rc plane that is ready to go on a whim!
I cant wait to bring the pulse to our club's show and tell at our next meeting. I know some people will think it is a nice plane. Some will think i should bring a 4star40 that i built from scratch. I have great respect for my elders. Men like my late grandpa Bob! Men who flew the p-38 lightning over the phillipines as he did. It throughly disgusts me that they dont see the big picture like they could. If these men who think that arfs are ruining the sport of rc flying would take time with the younger generation of flyers there would be less arf sales! more kits on the market maybee too? I know that the older men in my club could help the younger flyers out by sharing their knowledge. If they dont, it will be lost with them as they move on.
until then, ill buy, build, fly and wreck whatever i choose to, and the pulse will be in my fleet!
I hope this may humble many older-timers into helpin us younger people out! Please dont think for one second that the younger crowd think that they have better stuff now than in the 70's. This is all relative! Hey im in it for the fun of it. I just think we all need to try to understand eachother and grow as a whole

A current student of mine, Planer, is learning on a NextStar. He's doing quite will and did his first landing on his 11th flight. He got a Pulse XT PNP for his next plane. When the weather clears and we have a nice day I'll do the maiden on it. I've flown the 4* before, but not the Pulse so I'm looking forward to the maiden on this one. Hmmm........I'm thinking now it may take him a bit longer to solo and his Pulse may require extensive flight testing before its ready for him to fly...............
BigEd - while I don't want get into the Pulse vs. 4* mix - they both have a good reputation, the current favorite in the stable is my 1970's design King Kobra, and ya can't have one unless ya build it!
I hear exactly where you're coming from with the older kits. I highly recommend the Sig Kavalier as a great second plane and first kit.

PULSE XT all the way. Looks better than a Sig 4*(my opinion) and flies GREAT! Ive had it for a while now...even though Ive got newer planes...Its become my everyday flier. Powered with an ) OS46AX and 11x5 prop. AMAZING verticle...I can hover it....and beautiful Knife edge flight. I LOVE IT!

I'm not sure why I have an affinity for classic designs myself. I've only been flying for three seasons myself and I started out with a Nexstar Select RTF. It just seems that my most enjoyable airplanes aren't shiny new designs.
My Nexstar was lost to a radio outtage when I wasn't even on the sticks. I replaced it with a 10-year old Hangar 9 Easy Fly 40 that looked awful but flew better than the Nexstar did.
I flew an Easy Sport 40, a Tiger Stick 40, and a Goldberg Tiger 2 next as sport planes. I lost the Easy Sport 40 to a similar radio outtage as the Nexstar even though it was a different TX, RX, and channel than the Nexstar. They went down a month apart. I still fly both transmitters and flight packs in other planes without any problem. The Easy Sport 40 was an old design when I first flew it, but it was a joy to have in the air.
I still have the Tiger Stick 40 and the Tiger 2 and they are both magnificent airframes. I have some newer designs that I enjoy flying like my Ace Staudacher S-300 or my Phoenix Models Seabee ARF. I have a Thunder Tiger Imagine 50 pattern ship that I'm looking forward to maidening this spring. What did I choose for a larger sport/pattern plane to fly for fun? I just had to have a King Kobra of my own!
A lot of new designs are exciting and look like they'd be a blast to fly - the Hangar 9 Tango and Sundowner come to mind, as does the Kyosho Kelly F1 Reno Racer and the new Great Planes Revolver. The tried and true designs, however, like the Tiger 2, like the ugly stik, and like the King Kobra never fail to deliver.
My only point was to remind pilots not to overlook the classics just because something shinier has come along. These fuddy duddy looking older designs are still being sold because they're great flying airframes.
P.S. - I did manage to get my King Kobra without having to build it myself. My buddy Fred loves to mention how I some how manage to "trick" him into offering to build it for me. I just hope Fred appreciates how much I enjoy every bit of the sweat and effort he put into building my plane!

I have flown the tiger2. Awesome aircraft! I think it will be my next build if i can find the kit. Id toy with the idea of making it a taildragger and moving cg back a bit..
Does the tiger2 have the same wing as the eagle2? if so, i remember building that wing years ago lol.
And I never meant to stir crap up in my last post. I just get darn discouraged when older members in my club and online think that us youngens have a lack of respect for the history of the sport. In fact-I have great respect for anyone in the hobby due to the dilligence, dedication, and knowledge that go into all aspects if it. Thats what makes it fun anyways

You're in luck, robbinsp, not only is the Goldberg Tiger 2 kit readily available, but Tower Hobbies actually has it on sale right now for only $74.99:

I have been flying a 4*60 arf for 3 seasons it was my second plane after learing on A nexstar and after this experience I wish that I would have just skiped the nexstar . not because the nexstar was bad it was easy to fly and quite aerobatic without the wing droops. but because the 4* 60 is so gentle if you want it to be and will do most any non 3D trick . this combined with my flight simulator makes me think it would have been easy with A buddy box.
I was going to sell my 4* but my wife is now learing to fly and it will be her second plane after her wm super fronteir senior(copy of A kedet senior).
the reason I was going to sell was because it was A little to mild for me at this point and I only have so much room and can only afford to keep so many planes flying. about 12 now.
with that being said one of those new planes is A pules 40xt ARF witch I purchased after helping one of my students prep and fly one as his second plane
he has done very well and is flying it on his own after I trimmed it and talked him thru take off and landing, that is if he can convince me to let him have his own plane! like A four star it can be docile but is alittle cleaner and wont slow down as quickly on final approach but it can land slowly if you slow it down before your over the runway.
as far as weak landing gear blocks this is somthing that seems common on ARF'S my 4* needed it's block fixed without any real bad landings.
iwas lucky to find it was failing before it came out.
IMO the 4* is A great plane but the pulse is just as capable as A second plane with A little more fun after your over the fear of flying your first low wing witch I think people make to big A deal of as long as its the rite plane.
the 4* can be bashed into A very aerobatic machine if your into that as I have seen one fly. As said earlier there are several planes that would also be good second planes.

My first plane was an old alpha trainer with an OS .46Max that was a powerhouse. My second was the Hanger 9 Mustang P-51 PTS. I love the look of this war bird and once I pulled all the training aides off, it flys beautifully. I just love the low passes. My next was the Pulse, but I didn't fly her until after I built my 4-star 40 kit. The pulse is prettier and flys better than the 4-star, but there is something about flying something you built yourself. My solution--get them both! Get them all--you can never have enough planes.

Hogflyer - Your way too modest in your instructor abilities. I'm barely into my 7th or 8th flight on the Nexstar. Have to admit I wasnt expecting to land when I did. Getting me 5 foot off the ground for a nice easy "fly by" , then telling me to land the darn thing came as a surprise to me. [X(] Guess that's the key to successful landings - take your BRAIN out of it. It worked anyway and as a beginner I can only encourage others to buddy up with someone to help them learn the hobby and make it as enjoyable as possible.
The PULSE is ready when you are.
