Just bought my first gas-powered plane from ebay (Had an electric as a teen)...it is a used durastick RTF with an OS .46 LA engine and airtronics radio installed. It's ready to fly once it arrives. I paid $250 for it (it was used for one year by seller). I'm concerned it may not be worth what I paid for it...not much I can do in hindsight, but just wanted to know if I paid too much and if a durastick will hold intrest?

Hindsight 20/20...got a little excited at the prospect of being ready to fly for $250...just visited hobby shops and realized it would be about $400-500 to break in...a quick bid and it was mine. IMPULSE! I think the radio model is the VG-600 if that sounds right

Sounds like a decent deal to me.....depending on what you are paying for shipping......I think the hobby shop was a little dillusional....you can get a RTF Hobbico Superstar 40 for $300 from Tower Hobbies.....but they may have been giving you a price with support equipment that you'll need (fuel pump, glo-starter, etc). Keep in mind that you'll still need that equipment.

I think you should feel good about your purchase. If the plane is in decent (flyable) shape, you got a good deal. This hobby is about having fun. You were excited, you bought, and now that excitement should carry through as you assemble this plane and learn to fly. I remember when I finally got my trainer done, I just set it on the kitchen table and stared at it until my wife thought I was having some sort of siezure.

This plane will teach you to fly. That is all a trainer needs to do. So enjoy your plane, don't let doubts take the wind out of your sails -- have a blast!

$250 sounds fine. Just have fun. This hobby is so addicting that you will soon realize that the first $250 spent was the best and just the start....!!!!

Yup just a start, I started with electric 2 1/2 yrs ago (that first one cost me more than $250) and I'm up to 10 glow planes and just ordered my third radio.... NA no addiction here I just gotta get these companies to stop forcing me to buy more planes ..... Gotta go I smell a sale at a hobby shop.

I'm already addicted and the plane hasn't even arrived yet... attempting to trade my Xbox and games away for field box and tools (I'm dirt broke!). Can't wait to get into the air, even if it's with a "brick" as I'm told that's what I'll be flying!!
