With your alls help, i finally got my plane off the ground. I was extremely suprised to see it actually go straight, take off the ground and steadily climb. And climb it did, got about 30 feet or so in the air, and then it went to the right. I think i let up on the elevator and it hit a fence post.

See pic. Is that fixable? Little glue, tape. seriously. I did go by a hobby store but they didnt have anything to match a cessna 747.

Open to suggestions.

I broke off the front 8" of a stryker once. It was ugly but a clean break. I glued it back together with CA. Didn't fly the same but it flew and you couldn't tell unless you were up close.

Whats CA? Something adhesive?

I got the famous "Super Goop" lying around. think that might work?

Did you use any tape, or just glue adhesive.

CA is Cyanoacrylate Glue. Same stuff as super glue but it's in larger bottles and cheaper by the ounce at your LHS(Local Hobby Shop) or craft store.

Super goop would work but might end up being a bit heavy.

I just added drops to the entire surface and taped it to hold it in once place while it dried. Dries to handle in a few minutes but I'd let it dry overnight before flying.

Put 2 small dowel in the break fit before gluing epoxy them or use your favorite glue. You can after they are dry put clear packing take over the break.

Don't use regular CA on that foam. It will disolve it. There is foam safe CA but it is a bit pricey.
Use the Super Goop but only a thin layer. Put clear packing tape on top and bottom to help reinforce it. (the dollar store stuff works well)

Hey now; that's not fair... You got it flying so now you have to tell us what the problem ended up to be so we know what advice worked for you

I used standard CA on my stryker fuselage without any issues but that's not to say his plane is made of the same stuff. Good point.

1. my propeller was on wrong. (put in on right)
2. had bad motor (replaced it)
3. biggest issue was the wheels. had to bend them in a little to keep it from spinning to the right. and did that.
4. next issue was the battery. i charged what i thought was long enough. my math bites. charged it more and correctly, and bam, we got juice baby.

5. i crashed it.

4 out of 5, not too bad.

On a serious note... if you're looking for 'teach yourself to fly' tips, do a search. There are a few good threads with tips and pointers to get your plane up in the air and down in one piece. Finding an instructor would be a good thing though.

Considering the money you will eventually spend to teach yourself how to fly I would suggest investing on a Flight Simulator, it will be cheaper on the long run also when you get to the point where you are ready to step up to more maneuverable and/or scale airplanes (including Jets) you will always have some thing to practice with. And hey you will always have some thing to fly even though it is raining or cold out there. JMHO

be stingy with the glue and rebalance after its glued up. be very careful to get it aligned just right and you might not be able to tell the diference in flight. a couple pieces of sharp tooth pics won't hurt for strength either

The best glue I've found for foam repairs is Gorilla Glue. Just make sure you tape the joint together tightly. Go sparingly on the glue, and it will be as strong as the original foam.
