Default Amazing find!

My dad was into planes some 15 years ago so he was showing me what he has. Well, He has a Easy 100 Barsa plane with no top wing. An electronic starter, fuel tank,40fp engine, propelers. Just about everything you need except the wing for the old easy 100 plane. Any ideas on where to get the top wing? His landlord threw it away some 15 years ago.

A lot of 40 size trianer wings could work as most are flat bottomed with dihedral. cord length and wing span would be the factors to match up. good luck.

You could build a coroplast wing as well. Check the SPAD section or www.spadtothebone.com for how if you come up short finding a Balsa wing. They are easy and cheap to build. Just another way to go if you have trouble finding one.

Check around some clubs ---- there is almost always someone that has a bunch of old wings that they are just waiting to put on something. ENJOY !!! RED

IF you are at STTB, then there is a free plans tab. There are lot of different plans, but the easiest and best wing to build is the RNAF wing and there is really good description for it with the DPS or Das Plas Stik. To make a Dihedral wing follow the instructions for the Buhor trainer, just make the RNAF top and bottom. The 2mm makes a much better airfoil because its much more flexible.

You can get the coroplast from several sources and the yard sticks from any hardware store. If you do some searching and some reading on the SPAD section of this forum or at Spadworld.net you will get most if not all the info you need to build a wing.

I never owned or flew a R/C plane and built a Spadet for my first plane and it was not hard at all. I've built a few ARF's since then and I have to say its about a wash in the amount of time and effort to build a SPAD or assemble an ARF. Give or take an hour.

OR you can just get a new ARF trainer and just put all you new found gear in it It's all based upon whats in the wallet!

Good Luck,

I would go with the Buhor trainer wing now that I look at it more. Finding the 2mm coro could be tough locally. I found mine at a local sign shop supplier. 4mm coro is quite easy to find though at any grocery store, sign shop, convenience store, beverage dealer, the list goes on. If you tell them you are making a plane with the stuff, most will give you the coro. You could easily make the wing at the dimensions you stated. To get a spar right at 1 3/4 inches might tough with out a saw, but the heavy yard sticks they sell at HomeDepot in the paint department and the thickness of the coroplast, you might be right there. Or close enough A little thinner spar will just make it a bit faster is all.

Plastic is a little heavier than Balsa, but it sure takes the abuse better. I've smacked my wing I don't no how many times and she's still flying.

Good Luck,

An LT-40 is a high wing trainer made by Sig. I looked to see what a wing would cost and it would be 70 dollars. A Tower Trainer ARF is that much.

Yes the wing will be built with 2 pieces of folded coroplast, but with a full length spar so it will be a one piece wing once you are done. You will put a small wrap of coro in the center to help join the 2 pieces together. Read over the plans carefully and study the pictures on how they are put together. I've given you an avenue to travel that may help you, but the best thing you can do is spend a bit reading on how to do it. I studied all the plans on STTB and read lots of threads before I gave it a shot. Don't be afraid to look at other options. You could scratch build a wing from Balsa. You might find a used wing at a hobby shop that could work. If you have a club near by, lots of fliers have pieces of planes lying around that they will part with to help someone out. Finding a club would be a good idea anyways so you have someone to help you learn to fly. It's a lot more expensive and time consuming trying it on your own.

Good Luck,
